Why does it always come down to ABORTION?

It seems no matter what else is happening in the world and America, hurricanes, disease, war, huge gas prices, the only thing that matters to the left is the abortion issue, or thinking of ways to Trash Bush.

Judge Roberts has incredible credentials, a brilliant mind a sense of how a REAL JUDGE should behave {no legislating from the bench} interpreting the law as written and adhering to precedent.

But the left with no real policies or solutions are hammering away on the abortion issue! Why is this damn thing so important to the loony left? I guess that's the only way the left can continue to get support from its base! I do mean base in both senses of the word BTW.

It's a sign of our priorities. With all the horrors at hand in the world, the lynchpin issue for these secretary-banging boozehounds is ALWAYS going to be whether they can affordably cover their indescretions. Do you really think pappa Ted gives a damn about women's rights? Hell no, it is HIS right to go and quietly have an embarassment 'taken care of' should the need arise.

Pardon my french, but Biden is an asshole of grand scale. I've been watching for the last half hour or so, and he's done nothing but partisan bulldog garbage. He has on three or four occasions interrupted him, and then defended it by saying he already knew what he we going to answer. I can't believe a Democrat with half a brain could watch his behavior and not be completely embarassed.

It goes to show how fair we are in the US that someone from such a piddly state could be such a mouth in the Senate.

I know...weird, ain't it? Of all the things they find wrong with this country, abortion is the one the want to pound away on.

For me, at least, a lot of what is wrong with the Left does come down to abortion.... because of the hypocrisy.
This is the side, after all, that vehemently opposes the Death Penalty in virtually all cases. It is also the side that takes under its robes the animal rights whackos, who would save a deer at the expense of a hunter; the environmentalists who stand in the way of bulldozers to save a snail or insect in danger of having its habitat erased to make way for a hospital or houses.
They also try and claim the mantle of 'compassion' and 'right-to-life', but think absolutely nothing of killing an utterly innocent, barely formed child. Notice that I didn't call it a fetus.
Maybe not what you're aiming at, Modman, but just a few thoughts from me.

It's interesting to me that only men responded to this article.

Personally, the right to choose what I do with my own body is central to my political affliations. It's not a method for grand-standing the political area, or throwing a wrench in an otherwise effective political structure--it is something that honestly effects me and my rights.

So while it may not be that important to you--it is very important to some of us.

But it's not the only thing that the left is doing--currently the Democrats have brought the Mercury pollution rules to the floor of the Senate--so,the same could be asked of you: why are you focused on only one issue?

Also, MM--you'd get more flies with honey than vinegar. Insulting all democrats (by calling them base) is probably not a good way to open a discussion (if that's what you were after).

I think it is hypocritical that some think "a woman's right to choose what she does with her own body" is the same as "a woman's right to choose what to do with an unborn child." As if the child is universally accepted as being some vestigial organ until it pops out.

If you could convince me a fetus is no more than an unnecessary part of a woman's body, I might agree. There's no great "truth" that makes it so, though, and pretending we all agree on that is a blind spot to pro-abortion folks. They accept it as a given fact, when in reality, it is far more than just debatable.
