America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
More proof how weak and useless the U.N. is
Published on April 28, 2006 By Moderateman In International
Well folks the deadline has come and passed and Iran a true rogue nation has told the United Nations to go take a flying leap off a cliff.

The President of Iran has shown how dangerous the nation has become and how weak the United Nations is without a strong American military to back it up.

America has long been the heart and soul of the U.N. but with us bogged down and locked into the every more spiraling out of control situation in Iraq, the U.N. has no backbone nor the will to do anything but make useless threats.

I say we should just let Iran do what they want. Once we can prove they do have nukes and wait to see what happens. If they do attempt to use them we have an excuse to level the country.

I cant really blame Iran.  I mean when was the last time the UN acted decisively?

no one wins in war, and Iran will use nukes if they can.

1991 gulf war.. and even then the united states carried the bulk of the burden. the united nations is a defunct machine that just does not know it's broken.

So you'd like to see Israel a smoking glass crater? Our (the UN, the IAEA, the US gov't) responsibility to the world community is to see that Iran isn't allowed to make weaponizable uranium. They only have the right, under the NPT, to develop nuclear energy. And we, as an international community, would allow them to -- heck, we'd help them to!

But they don't want to stop there. And you're saying let them, and we'll just clean up what's left of the Middle East?

my biggest fear is Israel is NOT GOING to stand by and allow Iran to build nukes, Israel will strike first and then the crap will really hit the fan.

I wonder how you say "frack" in Arabic.

HAHA.

And I wonder how many times they can say it before the UN understands it?

The next few days (yes, days) should bear out exactly what is going to happen regarding this issue. Iran clearly wants nuclear weapons. They have found the enrichment formula. They can centrifuge all the uranium hexafluoride they darn well please.

So now it's up to the UN, the IAEA, the US, and.. yes, Israel (since Iran admits freely the intent of its nuke program is to destroy Israel) to get this genie back into its bottle. And that may actually involve blowing up the genie, the bottle, and the beach where it washed ashore.

(Sorry, I held onto that metaphor a bit too long. It's late and I'm tired.)

There's more to this than meets the eye, in my opinion. I don't think Iran, insane as they are, would be walking with their balls hanging out if they didn't have an ace in the hole. I think they are being stoked by NK and China on this one to believe when crunchtime comes they won't be standing alone.

(BTW, MM, you win the Battlestar Galactica Award for 'Best Use of the Word "Frack" in a Real Sentence'.)

Hmmm... something I hadn't thought about. China does have a seat on the Security Council and can veto any invasive act against Iran... hmmmm... worth considering. Thanks, Baker.

Israel is the most like candidate to nuke an Iranian facility.

What ever happened to the old days when we were backing the good guys in Iran, Saddam was our friend and we had just taken away Palestine and made Israel out of it.
It's funny how foreign policy comes back to bite you in the ass.

Thank god American Indians hadn't thought of suicide bombings as a way to protest.
