America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~

What’s the deal about Coretta Scott King?

If I see one more tribute to the dead wife of slain black leader Martin Luther King I am going to scream.

So what? She died, what’s the big deal? All this flying flags at half-mast for what reason? She was no national hero, She did nothing great, and her big claim to fame is her husband was killed.

Where were all the tributes when Jackie Kennedy died? Where was her body laid in state?

This is just more politically correct garbage; if she were white there would not be such a display.

How have we let America fall into such a place that we “honor” someone not for what she did, but for the color of her skin?

Reply By: cmortonPosted: Thursday, February 16, 2006I think It is easy to get "caught' up in the whole race thing. I didn't share some of the real reasons why I was so adament about it.I guessI can thank my mother for being so liberated, and teaching my family not to hate others because they were of another race.My mother is black and Metis, my father is white. I have blue eyes, and distinct features. No matter where I go I have people questioning my ethinticity. After awhile, It gets tiring. I am no different from anyone else, but I was always made to feel otherwise. I just feel strongly about some things, and I truly believe that it shouldn't matter what color someone is. I was raised in believing that all people are to be treated equal. Maybe there is something to be said about finding a place and feeling comfortable in it. I too , went through a tough battle of fitting in. Black people don't want to accept you because you are "Too White" and White people don"t want to accept you because you because they are trying to determine what color you really are.I think what is really interesting is how the bloodline will skip different generations and you find out all sorts of family history.Growing up in a house hold where you had mixed blood, race was never an issue in my family. We would watch TV and there would be all kinds of debates, or stories in the news about racial violence. My father, who is white never felt uncomfortable, and neither did my mother. The one thing I do remember is, how the kids at school would make an issue of it, or question why I had a white father, or a black mother. I was made to feel indifferent, but I use to think what side do I take? My mother would step in and say," When somone asks you what race are you"? "you tell them ,you are from the human race".So, you see I am not a racist, I just get upset when RACE is always put in where it shouldn't matter. Society always decide for you. Why do I have to claim any side? I have a grand daughter who has the same blue eyes, and blonde hair, but she has prominent black features. Already at the age of three, there are parents at the daycare where she attends commenting on her racial background. She is a child, a beautiful one might I add. I am proud of her, and I love her dearly. I raised my sons the same way I was brought up, and they are not raicist against anyone either. My youngest son is 6ft 6", and he always gets the odd comment about being a basketball player, because of his height. We don't think that is steryotypical, but you will always get the one person who will have racist comments. My point is I am just going to live my life as I have always have, and not made to feel guilty for not becoming "politically' or 'Racially "involved. This whole experience at JU has brought me back to earth with a crash, I just forgot what my momma taught me.

Apoligy accepted and point taken.

but lets be clear that King and his wife gave up a whole lot more than many members of what I agree was a machine.

mlk and his wife gave alot, including mlk being murdered, but death is the untimaste sacrifice and more than a few whites were murdered too.

btw worker bees work much harder than the Queen who is served by the workers, fed by them and have her offspring raised by them too.

Some of us are willing to, (like myself, ChaosManager, Modman, ParaTed and probably many others) and some are going to want to simply 'give back' what they got. DJ, for example, still needed to let off some steam, but I wouldnt take it personally.

Your right LW, it's not that I will blow up everytime I see him post even when it's a good thing, I just like to make sure that when people like to dish it out that they are able to get dished at as well. I tend to believe in giving back and if you give me pain, I have no problem giving it back and sometimes, well maybe most of the time, I tend to give more than I recieve. Isn't that what it's all about, It's better to give than recieve?

I ordered it on the internet. I paid $200 for it. And nothing has to 'happen' before it's used on me, it's just as much a part of our nature as being gay is to a homosexual. I don't know what your "limits" are, but I've certainly posted nothing pornographic, gratuituous, or lewd, and I find it funny that later in the same post you state...

I was only trying to be funny. But I thin I should stop since it seems that I am pretty bad at it. I have the tendency of finding humour in most things (not sad things) but it seems that only I laugh. That just might be a sign that I should hang up my microphone and work on something else.

Please refrain from telling me what I should or shouldnt post about in the future DJ, unless it's on one of your own threads, where you have every right to control the flow and content of the conversation.

I did that? Please point me to where I did that so I can correct it cause I would never do that. If I did I am sorry but I think it was not ment to you. But I'm not sure, please tell me where I said that. It must have been a mistake. I like your writing and would never tell you what to write. Oh wait. I get it. Duh. It was not ment in that way LW, I was simply trying to be funny which I seem to be really bad at. It seems that I have that effect on people and don't seem to want to admit it. Maybe I really should stop trying to make a joke even if it seems funny, I'm just not good at saying it. My bad. It was not my intention. I will try my best to stop myself from making any more jokes.

Wow, this is just an example of something I was thinking of making an article out of. I try to express myself and end up being seen as something I'm not. Man, for a guy who talks a lot I really suck at it. I'm starting to believe that blogging was a bad idea and that maybe I should have taken the advice that most people have said to me thru out my years to just shut up instead.

Sorry for being off topic here.

He certainly doesnt get all defensive, nor does He take offense.

You might try the same approach, cmorton. It would save you a lot of aggravation.

I get a little defensive time to time, maybe some lessons from simon are in order.

I just wanted to erase some of the negative things that I said. it is just easier for me so I don't have to keep reading them.
I realize that what was said was said, but I am truly sorry for the way I behaved, rather embarrassed.
