America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~

What’s the deal about Coretta Scott King?

If I see one more tribute to the dead wife of slain black leader Martin Luther King I am going to scream.

So what? She died, what’s the big deal? All this flying flags at half-mast for what reason? She was no national hero, She did nothing great, and her big claim to fame is her husband was killed.

Where were all the tributes when Jackie Kennedy died? Where was her body laid in state?

This is just more politically correct garbage; if she were white there would not be such a display.

How have we let America fall into such a place that we “honor” someone not for what she did, but for the color of her skin?

I heard one report that put it all in perspective...

"Mrs. King's body will lay in state, an honor denied her husband" (or something to that affect).

What you have been witnessing since her death is the guilt layed on a nation for an assassination most of us don't even remember.

Because she happens to be black, is all the more reason she should get the respect that she rightfully deserves.

I think his point is - Black or White, who else has been afforded this honor short of an Ex President?  I am sure there are some, but I cant recall them.

Reply By: cmortonPosted: Wednesday, February 08, 2006I guess being "white' is a priveledge? Coretta Scott King carried on with the Civil Rights Movement after her late husband Martin Luther King was assasinated. She may not be a hero in your eyes but she is for many African Americans and other nationalities around the world. Here we go again......Because she happens to be black, is all the more reason she should get the respect that she rightfully deserves. If you know anything about the Civil Rights Movement, you would understand why flags were flying at half -mast. This is a tribute to a woman who withstood adversity, racism and a husband who was assasinated for believing in a cause. She kept the dream alive.I thank God for the Civil Rights Movement. There wouldn't be any rights for African Americans today, if it were not for the hard work, determination and the pain and suffering that others had to endure, just to be treated equal. I can't believe I am wasting my time explaining this, but, ignorance is bliss. I wouldn't expect you to understand something so great.

wow it must be nice using all the drugs you are on, somehow you think you know me and how I think.

Reply By: little_whipPosted: Wednesday, February 08, 2006I had little respect for Coretta King because she refused to distance herself from race baiters and corporate shakedown artists Jackson and Sharpton. These goons have done more to harm race relations in this country than any white supremacy group could have by encouraging the cult of victimization, creating racial tension where no offense was intended (who can ever forget Jacksons declaration of the term 'refugee' to describe fleeing Katrina victims as "racist") and bilking job providing corporations out of billions to finance their own racist agendas. They took Kings dream and turned it into a self serving, racism perptuating, money making device to line their own pockets with, jet setting about to embrace various dictators, inciting riots which have caused the deaths of many (in sharptons case) and utterly rejecting other high achieving blacks like Condi or Cosby.Shame on her. She should have booted these buffoons out the door decades ago. What would MLK be doing if here were alive today?

Like I said her "claim" to fame is that her husband was murdered.

I am aware, however it did not approach this level.  Personally I dont care.  I think she was a saint to put up with his personal life and stand by his side.  But there are many women like that who do not get to lie in state or have flags flown at have staff.

Sorry, she was a "first lady". Did her body lie in state? Nope. Why then is MLK's wife being accorded that honor? If Jackie didn't deserve it, then why should Ms. King?
