America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
Yours, not someone elses that you have.

Because of the nature of things in life we do not get to hold on to many things from childhood, I was wondering what do you have? How old is it?

Mine is a piece of wood about 20 inches by 40 inches with a map of the United States drawn on it, by me when I was a cub scout

Age of me when done, 9 years old, age of my possession 50 years.

Of all things, I have a rock I picked up in a riverbed in Colorado in 1967 or '68 when I was 6 or 7. It sits by my backdoor today.

No surprise. I had you pegged as a rock fan.

Reply By: Reiki-HousePosted: Saturday, July 09, 2005I'd say it would have to be one of my old stuffed animals. I think the big brown bear that has the Commonwealth Games patch on it. The year it was in Edmonton so I'd say that was about 1978 or so I would have been 4, so it's 29 years old. I think I'm 33. Sounds silly but I consciously stopped keeping track when I hit 30. One neat thing we have that's super old is a receipt for the local paper here. When we moved in we moved an appliance and behind it was a paper receipt for the paper here from 1926. Like 80 years old or something. In pencil too. Our house was built in 1917 so it's kind of neat to see something like that. I'm a days-gone-past history buff so I enjoy imagining what life was like back then. I delivered the paper when I was younger so I could easily imagine some kid painstakingly filling in the receipt house after house week after week....Plus I enjoy thinking of how many people must have lived in our house before we ever bought it. It's fun thinking about the past.

very cool reiki and if i might add this is the most humane and human you have been to me.

Reply By: MasonMPosted: Saturday, July 09, 2005Sadly, for various and sundry reasons, I possess nothing from my childhood but memories. I think maybe the oldest thing I own now is a pair of boots about 5 years old. Oh well, maybe my tattoos, one of which is over 20 years old.

memories my friend, memories, all I have is what I said , the rest for me is memories, some sweet, some not so sweet.

Oldest possession depends on how you view it.
The longest possession in my care has been my grandfather's watch.
The oldest possession in my immediate family is my mothers old dodge.
The oldest possession I have age wise is an intricately carved walking stick that I picked up from a married on relative. The museum puts it at over 750 years of age and has a goat, a lion and a virgin on it. It gives everyone the creeps.

The oldest possession i have is an old cribbage board that I took from home. It belonged to my grandfather first who gave it to his son, my dad. It is just wood with a metal top, with the word STONEY engarved on the metal. We all learned how to play cribbage on this board and it brings back memories of my dad coming home from the shoe shop, smelling of leather, and walking in the door with the first words out of his mouth when he saw me was, "you ready for your next lesson" We would sit for hours playing. Never once did he let me when against him. I think I was probably 14 when I finally won my first game against my dad. Now I play with my middle child Kelsey on the board and as of yet she has not won me, but she is coming close.

Thanks El for this article, t'is good to think of fond memories.. next time I am CA. I will bring this board and NOOOOOOOOOOOO I will not let you win! :}~~~~~

Wow, sounds cool. One of my minor hobbies is collecting canes and walking sticks, which started back when I first starting having difficulty walking due to back problems. Do you know it's origin?

Just made another discovery... a silver chalice, used for religious rituals, that my grandfather brought over to the States from Russia in 1918... it was old then...so its even older now...I'm not sure how old..but at least 100 years.
