Lets step backwards in time to 1932... da nazis gain power, hitler is "elected" leader of Germany.

1933 thru 1935 the German high courts decides who should live and who should die, it started with the starvation of < mental defects, handicapped, the elderly and those deemed "unfit" by German judges, these people were starved to death long before the Germans got around to their final solution, of eliminating the jews, gypsies and other folk.

Does any of this sound familar? I am saddened that terry life was being used as a political football for both sides of the aisle.

Where does this madness stop? Is america by not heeding the past doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past?

Are we headed for an Nazi america? where judges decide who lives and who dies>? Who is productive? who deserves to die? LIve?

This whole stick and pony show sickens me, For the first time In a long time I am sad for my country, her people and politicians on both sides.

When will you get it through your thick, stupid, ignorant british skull that we could actually care less what you think! I care about what you think about as much as Bill Clinton is a republican. Which is to say ZERO! Go away with your dumb ass you ignorant troll.

"thick, stupid, ignorant british"

I have never seen such terrible prejudice against my countrymen. It is no wonder Americans are perceived as arrogant when this is the typical Yanky opinion. You are not welcome in Britain anymore.

"about as much as Bill Clinton is a republican"

Bill Clinton was actually a Republican, he managed to keep this secret from the Democrats for years.

"And the British couldn't handle the Irish"

The British army (the most highly trained in the world) handled the Irish in Ireland very well. It was only Irish terrorists (many funded by the 'democratic' Americans) that infiltrated Britain that caused problems.

Britain versus America aside, I feel lost regarding this hysteria about Mrs. Shiavo.

I am a cancer survivor in my seventies, and I have given plenty of thought about the inevitability of the end of life. When I underwent my most recent cancer surgery, I left specific, written instructions that, if my husband felt that the situation were hopeless, then all medical treatment was to be stopped. This specifically included hydration and feeding tubes.

I never for a moment thought of this as murder or suicide. It is a matter of coming when the Lord calls. God has determined that we all must die, and we must accept this ultimate limit.

I understand that Mrs. Shiavo left no written instructions, so I see a difference between her situation and mine. But Christian teaching and the law are together on this one -- the matrimonial bond comes first. Spouses, not parents, speak for you when you cannot speak for yourself.

The sad thing is that it is possible for a spouse to misrepresent you. Who knows? Maybe Mr. Shiavo did, and, if so, I have no doubt he will burn for all eternity. However, for government to intrude on such a family matter would be quite a serious thing. The evidence of spousal misreprentation must be very strong, or else you are opening the floodgates for all kinds of meddling. In Mrs. Shiavo's sad case, the parents brought a variety of questions about this arrangement to the courts, under our system of government, the correct place to raise the issue. The courts refused to intervene. The courts may or may not have made the right call. I have no inside information. But I do know the difference between Naziism and a decision by the courts to leave a matter to the decision of the spouse.

I, personally, am much more worried about government decision making than I am about spousal decision making, and so I am not going to get into hysterics about courts refusing to overrule a husband.
