America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
An Original thought would cause him to have a brain melt down!

This is why An Empty Suit Like Barak Hussein Obama appears to be such a powerful speaker! He has done his home work, or has more than likely had his lackeys do it for him and has copied the speaking patterns of four of the most powerful speakers of the last 65 years. The only Powerful speaker he left out was Adolph Hitler, but I am sure if he thought he could get away with it he would have used Adolf as a role model too!.

Basically he is much like the dummy a ventriloquist holds on his lap while the man does the speaking. If he had an original thought I believe his brain would explode.

1. Hold Out Hope

Like Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan, Barack Obama speaks in the uplifting rhetoric of hope. After his defeat in New Hampshire, Obama’s political oratory was so hopeful he sounded more like a winner than a runner–up. Obama knew a hopeful message would embolden his supporters. In a speech on Jan. 8, 2008, Obama said, “We know the battle ahead will be long. But always remember, no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change… We have been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.” Except when you are running on a platform of pie in the sky politics.

You are the leader people want to believe in. Your customers and employees are bombarded by bad news – the credit crunch, a housing slump, an economic slowdown – but they are eager to hear something positive. That doesn’t mean leaders stick their heads in the sand – far from it. Inspiring leaders acknowledge the situation but also remind people of reasons to be optimistic.

2. Use Rhetorical Devices

Many observers say Obama sounds like King. This is because he uses some of the same techniques that made King an electrifying speaker. Barak Obama is not fit to scratch Kings butt, and King was a liar himself, King for one was not a dr. of anything. His name was not even Martin Luther. King also ripped off the " I have a dream speech" from another pastor!

Parallel structure. We can thank the ancient Greeks for this rhetorical tool – they called it “anaphora.” It simply means repeating the same word or expression at the beginning of successive sentences or phrases. One of the most famous examples is King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed…. I have a dream that… I have a dream…” Obama uses the same device frequently. In his Iowa victory speech on Jan. 3, Obama said, “You have done what the cynics said we couldn’t do. You have done what the state of New Hampshire can do in five days. You have done what America can do in this new year.”

Anaphora’s sister technique is called “epistrophe.” It is the repetition of a word or expression at the end of successive sentences or phrases. For example, in Obama’s New Hampshire speech, the expression “Yes, we can” rallied thousands of supporters when used like this, “It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation: Yes, we can. It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail towards freedom through the darkest of nights: Yes, we can. It was sung by immigrants as they struck out for distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness: Yes, we can.”

Alliteration. Both Kennedy and King were fond of this device that strings together words starting with similar sounds. At the 2004 Democratic National Convention keynote speech that brought Obama to prominence, he said, “Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or do we participate in a politics of hope?” In 2005, during a commencement speech at Knox College, Obama described America as “a place where destiny was not a destination, but a journey to be shared and shaped…” When speaking at the Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars in August, 2006, Obama proclaimed, “The history of America is one of tragedy turned into triumph.” In January’s New Hampshire speech, Obama used alliteration again: “We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics.” My Sentence would be " We have been lied to by the leader of losers"

Rich Imagery. Persuasive speakers have long understood the power of imagery to stir emotions – the creation of mental pictures through the words. In his 2004 speech, Obama described what he meant by the audacity of hope: “It’s the hope of slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom songs, the hope of immigrants setting out for distant shores, the hope of a young naval lieutenant bravely patrolling the Mekong Delta, the hope of a mill worker's son who dares to defy the odds, the hope of a skinny kid with a funny name who believes that America has a place for him, too.”

3. Exude Confidence

In debates Obama appears unflappable, answering tough questions while maintaining strong eye contact. He doesn’t fidget or shake his head when listening to sharp attacks from his opponents. While seated, he leans slightly forward. People will make an impression of you after only a few seconds. Pay attention to what your body is saying. Communicate confidence, competence, and control. He has been schooled well, I wonder how much money he spent on trying to appear as though he is cool under pressure? I would like to see a debate with heart and blood pressure machines hooked up to the candidates so we can really see who maintains their cool and who is just APPEARING TO BE COOL!

4. Use Dynamic Vocal Delivery

A monotonous speaking style lulls the listener to sleep, regardless of the power of the content. Obama knows how to enhance his delivery. Consider these three aspects of his delivery.

Pacing. Obama varies the speed at which he speaks. Very few sentences are delivered at exactly the same pace.

Volume. In his victory speech after the Iowa caucuses, Obama raised the volume of his speech with each sentence in the following paragraph: “We are one nation. We are one people. And our time for change has come.” Each sentence slightly louder than the one preceding it.

Pauses. Nothing is as dramatic as a well–placed pause, and Obama knows it. He pauses at key moments to make a memorable impact. If only he would pause, period!

Would you care to point out any untruths?

I didn't say anything was untrue, just your opinion.  Like my opinion that pizza is the greatest food on the planet.  No matter how much info I present on why I think that, doesn't make it true for everyone.

It's true he's a great orator.  It's true he lacks an impressive resume.  Empty suit is your opinion.

on Apr 15, 2008
MM, I don't usually agree with you but I do think that Obama is a great orator.

I agree, he's a good talker. Others have agreed to this. So, OK, we have a consensus... Obama talks a good talk...How on earth does that qualify him for the office of president of the US?

on Apr 15, 2008
Yeah, they still have the "Q" bomb, how come CNN does not cover that conspiricy?

They cant spell Q bomb.

OH NO! God forbid we have a President who is actually fluent in the English Language.  I would much rather have the chimpanzee currently occupying the White House destroy our economy all the while telling us that he knows how tough it is "to put food on our family".

on Apr 15, 2008

WHat do you mean how does that qualify him? The only qualifications are listed in the constitution.  Or do you think GW's resume of not being able to find oil in Texaas, having his father have the job and going AWOL from the TANG was real "qualifications".

Maybe you are referring to McSame's qualifications of being old enough to have babysat several of the founding fathers.  OH wait, i forgot his major "qualification" namely he couldn't complete a mission and was shot down.

OK...Barack Hussein Obama, an attorney, is running on his 100% pro abortion voting record...and yet, no where in the US Constitution is a "right" to abortion found.

This fact alone disqualifies your man "Barry" for any candidate who is worthy of the Presidency should know what is constitutional and what is not.

on Apr 15, 2008
Btw, Virginia, I mean The-Politico, both President Bush and Sen. McCain have pro life voting records which indicates they understand and follow the US Constitution.

Most people on the right are stating that McCain is NOT Reagan. But the left sure wants to make him out to be! They are using the same tired old cliche's!

I guess that is the difference between us, I would rather have someone that doesn’t seem to speak in whole sentences but does what is right for the nation than someone that looks the part but can’t do the job. When Mr. Carter was president he was made fun of by his own party because of the way he spoke and his own party damaged the country because we had a bumpkin in the white house, all because he beat Senator Kennedy for the nomination. So in my opinion you are consistent with the liberal democrat party. You would prefer style over substance.

I find it cute that you tear down a current president that has already made the grade and done well as justification for your support for a hate mongering racist, but setting that aside you have yet to write anything in support of the person you wish to see lead this nation. I don’t vote against someone I vote for them. What is it that you see that makes you want to vote FOR Senator Obama?

Maybe you are referring to McSame's qualifications of being old enough to have babysat several of the founding fathers. OH wait, i forgot his major "qualification" namely he couldn't complete a mission and was shot down.

You are factually in error, he did complete the mission he was shot down after he dropped the bombs. If given the choice most of the republicans would not vote for Senator McCain and no conservative would want to vote for him, it is just that the other choice is worse. So we agree that Senator McCain is a worthless piece of crap but he is less smelly than the alternative. I will give you this, Senator Obama is untried and untested so there is a slim chance that he will do well as president. Given the track record of untried democrats the chance is very slim.

Most people on the right are stating that McCain is NOT Reagan. But the left sure wants to make him out to be! They are using the same tired old cliche's!

Dr. Guy, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, their play book was written in the mid 50’s and they have never deviated from it. Their aim is to trick us into believing that whomever they choose a president is the perfect person and all others need not apply.

Politico: Thank you.

Lula: I am pro-life. That being said, there are more issues than just that one on the table at this time. The lesser of the evils is kind of how it is this time around.

Just as NOWHERE in the US constitution is it denied, which as the constitution does not limit your rights to the items enumerated means it must be constitutional.

Perhaps you need to find a party that realizes the constitution applies at all times, not just when you feel like following it.

Here's the problem with the blind man and the elephant. How do you know he has not? This is but one article. Even the MSM does not write novels on all candidates at once, they pick one and do an expose (or a hatchet job) and then write a second, third, fourth and on and on to bring out their biases on the others. Yet you expect a blog to be comprehensive on the election process? Please, learn the difference. Go rant on the NY Times pages about how they cant seem to find the political party of a crook when they are a democrat. The article is about Obama, not a novel about all the candidates. If you read enough here, you will find what you want. Articles on all the candidates, both positive and negative, and if I am not mistaken, many of them by this author as well.

You don't like what the MSM doesn't do, then do something about it or quit bitching. Plain and simple. Quit trying to justify it.

I agree, he's a good talker. Others have agreed to this. So, OK, we have a consensus... Obama talks a good talk...How on earth does that qualify him for the office of president of the US?

How are most those we elect and re-elect into office qualified? (Teachers, lawyers, bussinessmen/women make up most of them.) Ninety-nine percent of them are all talk, yet we continue to re-elect them. The blame lies with us mostly. We're the fools who put them back in office, after believing their rhetoric, again and again. We largely vote on face recognition, not who is the best for the job.

OH NO! God forbid we have a President who is actually fluent in the English Language.

Eh? Expound on that please.

"OK...Barack Hussein Obama, an attorney, is running on his 100% pro abortion voting record...and yet, no where in the US Constitution is a "right" to abortion found."

No....he's running on what's called his platform. Go check it out ( barackobama.com ). Also, go read the constitution, and you'll see what he's talking about lula. Don't be ignorant, read up on it.

"Btw, Virginia, I mean The-Politico, both President Bush and Sen. McCain have pro life voting records which indicates they understand and follow the US Constitution."

Erm, major fallacy. WHERE does the constitution say that to be pro life is to be following the constitution?

Meant "you" as in general, not necessarily you specifically DrG.

CEDARBIRD POSTS #40

Lula: I am pro-life. That being said, there are more issues than just that one on the table at this time. The lesser of the evils is kind of how it is this time around.

Your saying this reminds me of something a fellow by the name of Daniel O"Connell once said, "NOTHING IS POLITICALLY RIGHT WHICH IS MORALLY WRONG".

You might want to give his words some thought.

on Apr 15, 2008

Great logic! Since there is nothing in the constitution that forbids killing people then all the people executed for murder have had their civil rights impinged. There is nothing that forbids robbery either so we should free all political prisoners that are being unconstitutionally held for robbery just because their views are different than ours.

What you fail to understand is that until Roe Vs Wade abortion was legal in the United States. After Roe Vs Wade the liberals have tried to make it mandatory. Abortion is not a right it is a medical procedure that some communities find abhorrent, following the constitution it was legal in 36 states and illegal in the rest. There is such a thing as states rights and the liberals are trying to take away those rights in order to do benefit their own beliefs over the majority of those states that don’t approve of abortion. That is unconstitutional.

Perhaps you need to find a party that realizes the constitution applies at all times, not just when you feel like following it.

That is what the republicans believe it is you and whatever party you belong to that seems to be challenged in this area.
