I Need to Kill Something

While it's not hunting season for any kind of serious game yet, before my surgery I need to get out in the woods and just kill something, maybe a bunny or a birdie or a squirrel, anything will do right now.

While my preferred game has always been another armed human, this is against the law except in war time and since I am not a member of the armed forces and not in a war zone, hunting another human is a huge no-no. darn it.

So I have cleaned up my 22.250 mounted a small 4X scope on it and set some rules for myself, no shots to be taken under 100 yards. Only one round loaded at the time. If I miss the one shot the target gets to live another day. If I wound it, I will load another round and finish the deal.

So look out bouncer, look out screwy, and woody, here I come ready or not.

Hmmm, I know nothing about guns and hunting in real life. Good luck with whatever you get and only shoot as much as you can carry - no more.

sweety pie, you need something with a little more punch than a 22.250 to stop a wild hog.

In his young and stupid days one of my uncles used to hunt them with a Bowie knife. You should see the nasty scars on his legs from that. Those tusks are killers.

I had a friend named Shep Neidieu {pronounced Nay doo} that was 1/2 Apache and once a year he use to hunt like an Apache did in the days of yore, breech-clout, water tied off in animal intestines and a real nasty knife, along the lines of a man killer K-bar or Gerber, he would run his game to almost death never letting the animal rest, till it just tired out then he would move in for the kill. I miss him, He is one of those that came back in body but his mind stayed in Nam. I lost track of him around 30 years ago.

Sounds like my father. He was 1/2 Apache (his mother was full Apache). He also didn't quite come all the way back from Nam.

hunting another human is a huge no-no

you just have to change your prefered weapon to a paint ball gun.

thanx for the comparison photos whip, but a 22.250 has a larger cartridge case and considerably more punch than a .22 long, but not close enough for hunting a boar, although a boor or a bore would be dead meat at 100 yards.

Just out of curiosity, are you using a 22.250 because that's all you have at hand or simply because its enough for the satisfaction you are searching for?

Personally I've never shot a gun before, unless you count nerf foam guns, supersoakers, BB guns, paintball guns. I would like to try a shotgun and/or a magnum. Just to see what it feels like.
