I am posting this the next day, July 4, so there might be no one to read this. But, if any casual passer-by does happen to see this entry, I have to say these things:

1. I've read nearly all of the postings on this thread, and honestly, I hope, for America's sake, that all of these posters are TEENAGERS!!

2. If the posters here are Not Teenagers, I will have to say that this is the largest collection of Seriously Full-of-Shit people I've ever witnessed in One place! Bar None!

3. For my casual observer, I'll ask this question: Did you actually see a single claim on this thread that was backed up by anything other than OPINION? I sure didn't. Not a single factual source for ANY of the dozens of radical claims made by Any Poster Here! Wow!

4. I'll ask another question of you, casual observer: Could all these people be part of the 28% of Americans who still believe in the validity of the Iraq "War?" Not the Full 28%, to be sure; but, I'd say, maybe half of the 28%? I've noticed that there is no reference to the technical legitimacy of this "War." That is to say that I've never heard or read the actual Declaration of War, written or pronounced by Anyone in the US Government, have you? Apparently these people have seen one. I'd like to get a copy for my own files.

For anyone else who happens to stumble by, let me say this: Are we witnessing the result of a twenty year long propaganda campaign that was created to sway large segments of the American People to believe lots of things that just were NOT TRUE? For instance, everyone here, with rare exception, BELIEVES there is NO detainee at Gitmo who isn't a "Terrorist!" And since they "Believe" it, it is factually and indisputably TRUE! And further, that ALL Democrats are "Liberal Weenies", whatever that means. Now, this last item smacks of some kind of Brainwashing event, and I say that because the folks here sound like they'd rather DIE than even Talk to a Liberal! Doesn't it sound like that to You? I mean, how could they make that observation themselves without ever knowing a Liberal? I guess Ann Coulter has told them it wasn't really necessary to actually know a Liberal in order to make that distinction.

Anyhow, Observer, I just wanted to share a little of what I feel after reading this strangely malicious and ill-informed work of "Opinion!" Hope I didn't bore you too badly.

As for the comments, they were a response to a trend of people selectively attacking minor points of an argument as a way of arguing against the majors (the definition of "is"!)

You seemed reasonable, and the Gideon guy, and one or two more, but ModerateMan is anything but that. I'd watch him. Also, mention to MM and the Gid-guy that verifiable fact is not at all what I had in mind, exactly. But remembering that no one cares about ones opinions, it seems strange to hear such strongly held beliefs being propounded as if they were common and accepted knowledge by the general populace. Sure, but you're forgetting that we've all seen each other's sources in the past. Most of us have been on this site for ages; when we see something new we'll throw it in, but otherwise it really is just shooting the shit and arguing about nothing in particular.

I don't think anyone really takes what we do here as serious debate. We all just do what we like best, whether that be insane ranting, dismal attempts at being subversive or clever or pretending to be rational. The only place debate really happens is in the first few posts, but only if an insane ranter hasn't already laid claim.

It is not that I do not care about your opinion, you gave no opinion other that to trash everyone elses opinion. That is what I said I do not care about. But feel free to come back and show me where I lied or misstated anything here in the body of the article, back up with verifiable facts of course, since you are so hot on them. That is all.

I was not going to mention that docG, I really, really wanted to see Barry refute the article with facts.
