This was a forward from my ex-wife. I do not know if this is true or not, but it sure is interesting.

1. The Garden of Eden was in Iraq

2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!

3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.

4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq

5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq!

7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.

8. Jonah preached in Nineveh- which is in Iraq.

9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.

10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.

12. Daniel was in the lion's den, in Iraq!

13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq(Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the Fiery furnace!)

14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq.

15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.

16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.

17. The wise men were from Iraq

18. Peter preached in Iraq.

19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israelis the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraqis a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated it than Iraq.

And also, This is something to think about! Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)

Koran (9:11 ) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

whoa, that's some really cool stuff there Elie, probably true. Someone that knows the bible might be able to confirm this stuff or inform us of what might be accurate.

2. Meh, Personally....I think thats a load of dung.

3. Really, I always thought it was closer to Turkey. I remember watching a investigative show (A&E , I think) a while back where they *think* they found it near Mt. Ararat.

I always found that verse to be interesting. Though, I'm not exactly sure if it means the USA. It could easily be anything else. (Lets hope though, cause it does say there will be peace)

Yep, and no other nation has whooped other nations butts all by there lonesome. (Yom kippur war, etc...) It is a big bomb in a tiny box.

#5 is definitely true. My husband was stationed at Talil Air Force Base which was right next door to a tourist attraction of sorts: Abraham's birth spot.

Oh, I had forgotten about that. I was thinking more along the lines of the US of Bin Laden. He's Saudi, while he isn't technically the "son of arabia," he is favored in that country, despite what people think. Then, "the wrath of the eagle would be felt throughout the lands of allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despait still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle...." I.e. The US in the middle east. Well, I don't see it "cleansing lands of allah..."

From snopes:

The chapter and verse citation reproduced in the example block above isn't a legitimate quotation from the Quran (or Koran), the sacred text of Islam — no such passage appears in that book, at Chapter 9, Verse 11 or anywhere else.

This item a hoax, a leg-pull, that plays on the USA's (i.e., the Eagle's) launching of military action against Afghanistan and Iraq (the "lands of Allah") in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks on America organized by Osama bin Laden (the "son of Arabia"). That the chapter and verse selection match the date of the terrorist attacks (9:11) is another giveaway to the joke.

I don't know about the other stuff (1-19) and I'm too lazy to look it all up. The Koran verse, though, isn't real.

Why do you think it's a pile of dung, Lucas? Mesopotamia means "between (μέσος - [mesos] in Greek) the rivers" (πόταμος - [potamos] is the Greek for river) and refers to a fertile area between the Tigris and the Euphrates, covering modern day Iraq, eastern Syria and southern Turkey, that has indeed been called the 'Cradle of Civilization'.

This is where the first literate societies developed. Sumerian may well have been the first language ever written down. The region was home to the Sumerians, the Akkadian Empire, the Assyrians, the Babylonians and other ancient empires. These people developed metalworking, glassmaking, textile weaving and were one of the first Bronze Age peoples. They invented a sexagesimal (base 60) counting system, which is why we have 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour. They were amongst the first astronomers able to predict solstices and eclipses. Indeed as you yourself note elsewhere (?!!!) they developed the first great cities.

Now, none of this has that much to do with modern day Iraq. So, is this 'dung' business your carefully considered and researched opinion, or is it a desperate (and unsuccessful) cry for some 'attaboy' love from our more right-wing correspondents? Only you can know.

I was just about to say what TW just said. I've seen this email many times. I believe many are correct if not all with the exception on the part about the Koran. Maybe someone added that later?

I could show you just about every statement above in scripture. Of course you can easily see the garden in Eden had the Tigris and Euphrates running right thru it in Genesis.

It's been all over the news since we invaded Iraq that it is indeed the cradle of civilization so that's easy as well.

Not sure about Peter and the empire of man. Have to check on those.

I believe it started over there and will end over there and Babylon will play a part in the end. It's not about America at all. I think we are here just for the sole purpose of missionary work and to be a friend of Israel. If not for us, there would not be a Jewish nation right now. But somehow we are going to wiped off the map or be disabled or taken over. Just can't figure how. I'm sure when it happens we'll know.

Erm...I must be having a bad night. I am clueless of what you mean.

Yes, he is from Saudi Arabia, however, given the fact that names of places vary. Arabia, isn't just Saudi Arabia, it encompasses miles and miles.

What about before written history? Neanderthals? Unless I am mistaken, they were around before the Mesopotamians. (shortened to Meso) Granted, the Meso's were more advanced. Still...

Not only that, but:

The four rivers that scholars cite as being possible sites for the 'Cradle of Civilization' are: the Tigris-Euphrates in modern day Iraq, the Nile in Africa, the Indus in South Asia, and the Huang-Ho-Yangtze in China.

The civilizations that emerged around these rivers are among the first attempts humanity made at establishing societies and they all date back thousands of years.
