Now that the 3rd world countries have gotten a taste of capitalism and love it BTW! They have begun DEMANDING pay more in line with there American counterparts, Greed it seems is not just an American trait as the rest of the world would believe!

If they keep pressing for higher wages soon the companies that have been outsourcing will have to bring the jobs back to America. Then of course the rest of the world will blame America for giving them a taste of money to better there lives, then taking the source of money away from them. Another future case of no matter what America does we are wrong.

Finally we will get to speak to support teams that actually speak english.

I sure hope so. Gawd, that'd be so nice.

Apparently when you call a customer service place and you end up taling to India, you can ask to speak to someone 'onshore' and they have to transfer you back to the US and someone who doesn't sound like Apu whats-his-name from The Simpsons.

It is a nice dream, but it will be a long time before it happens.  I am in the middle of it and I dont believe it.  IN 5-10 years maybe.  NOt today.

I have read somewhere that dell is already bringing back some jobs, so it might happen sooner than either of us think.

This would be great news for our workforce for sure. The only thing is would they use this as an excuse to drive consumer's costs up?

it will drive up consumer cost donna, but the only way we will get rid of illegal aliens and keep jobs at home is to pay a little more.

Hmmm, I don't know if this will do it Elie. Paying more is not the issue really, as in I'm not looking so much at the cost we will pay, although that will be a factor to many; rather what consumer costs will go up because of the companies having to re-direct their work to our shores. They will find some excuse. Tax breaks and incentives were not enough for them (manufacturers and corporate america) because they claim they weren't making a profit and the overheads were too high so they outsourced up the nails on the wall (so to speak)!

Only yesterday I heard the news that China will be making SUVs that will cost only $10,000! And they'll be headed our way (to the US) like everything else.

We the consumers have to be prepared to pay more to keep our workforces viable and the manufacturers and corporate america have to stop looking for a way out and not stand behind their workers like they used to. Of course a company wants to make money and make a profit, but when they toss the baby out with the bath water just because it will cost them less to do business in China or Pakistan, what faith do they show in their own countries? None. So these 3rd world countries' workers demanding more money because their standard of living have gotten a lot better is good. Like you say captalism at work!
