America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
Kept slaves happy then and us blind now

You can get to the true juicy taste of the "pork" in the American political sense if you know the origin of the term. And there seems no doubt it derives from a benevolent practice common in the South in the years before the civil war.

Slave owners on special occasions, or whenever they were feeling particularly charitable (some did it regularly in the binding spirit of noblesse oblige - a code the best owners lived by), would put out salt pork in big barrels at a certain time on an announced day.

The above is a cut and paste from an article I used as research for this to give the real meaning of pork barrel spending done by both sides of the political spectrum.

This practice was used to keep the slaves happy and in line, much like the modern days version of pork spending is used to pacify and keep in line today's modern slaves, the middle of America.

The best and most extreme example of today is Republican Don Young {Alaska} with his one billion dollar bridge to no where.

Both parties are totally out of control with spending, trying to blame all this on the Bush administration is a ploy used by the left to hide all the pork they spend on.

Citizens against government waste has a list of all the wasteful spending done by "our leaders"

It's about time we start holding our leaders to a higher standard and voting them out of office when they spend frivolously.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! tHANK YOU! It's nice to read something about this finally! Over the years I have read and watched and heard via radio the results of various investigations concerning pork spendng! Sorry I don't have my sorces, as I never wrote them down, or kept track of who said what; Only to note if it was crediable or not. That said, there are off ramps built to go over highways that were never built! There are raods built that go no where! To name just a few. This. right here in the states of the United States! It's difficult not to be angry when I hear such things.
All the pork barrelling going on, and here in the supposed richest country in the world. The richest country in the world that continues to ignore it's poor. Continues to cut programs that affect day care and early education. All the while, many peoples pockets behind the scene grow fat. Every election year, there is repeated poor turn outs to vote. Hey, I'm not saying it's easy to understand all the issues that come in those little blue books. One almosts needs to be a lawyer at times. If people all educated themselves, and voted to follow up on pork issues, changes can be made. Sadly, in this day and age it comes down to each of us struggling to feel comfomforable with keeping a roof over our heads, or food to eat, or the new car that shines. I get it. I understand this as well. Still, if no one speaks up and takes action, or even notices, nothing changes. This was an excellent article. Thank you!
