America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
Kept slaves happy then and us blind now

You can get to the true juicy taste of the "pork" in the American political sense if you know the origin of the term. And there seems no doubt it derives from a benevolent practice common in the South in the years before the civil war.

Slave owners on special occasions, or whenever they were feeling particularly charitable (some did it regularly in the binding spirit of noblesse oblige - a code the best owners lived by), would put out salt pork in big barrels at a certain time on an announced day.

The above is a cut and paste from an article I used as research for this to give the real meaning of pork barrel spending done by both sides of the political spectrum.

This practice was used to keep the slaves happy and in line, much like the modern days version of pork spending is used to pacify and keep in line today's modern slaves, the middle of America.

The best and most extreme example of today is Republican Don Young {Alaska} with his one billion dollar bridge to no where.

Both parties are totally out of control with spending, trying to blame all this on the Bush administration is a ploy used by the left to hide all the pork they spend on.

Citizens against government waste has a list of all the wasteful spending done by "our leaders"

It's about time we start holding our leaders to a higher standard and voting them out of office when they spend frivolously.

It is a $220 million bridge, but since Alaska is still paying its citizens with the oil money, why cant Alaska pay for it?

Hey I lived in Alaska and LOVED getting that dividend check every year...though this year it is a paltry $850 a person or there abouts....it was the best thing about being there

I always wondered why they didn't take that money and build roads! Most places in the interior can only be gotten too by boat or plane.....even the state capital of Juneau only has road inside town...and about a mile out, going to nowhere....it just ends....isn't that weird?

But everytime someone mentions using the perm. fund dividend for anything but cash in the pockets of state citizens, people flip out. I mean they go t-otally nutty.

I would not mind a paltry $850 per person.  Hmm, 6 people that puts me about $5k.

lol. Yeah nice one.
And replace them with what? The next bunch of beauracrats who will do exactly the same?

Pork barrel spending has nothing to do with satiating middle class Americas need for anything. That's just the spin that gets spun in order to manufacture consent among the tax paying classes for a project whose root intention is to transfer yet more funds from the working middle classes to the corporate classes.

And good thing too. If that money was spent on education and health the average IQ just might rise to a level capable of questioning and discerning the difference between a state and federal system designed and implemented for the good fo the people (the myth) and a state and federal system designed and implmented for population control and wealth transfer (the actual).

A bridge to the middle of nowhere. Right on. If you connect two lots of "nothing" then there will be nothing at either end to question whether or not it was needed in the first place. Makes perfect sense when considered in light of the "actual" agenda... although i can see how you might be confused if you considered it in terms of the "myth" of doing something for the greater social good.
