Been a while since I have taken my shots at liberals and I feel they need me to blast them into a sense of reality.

I have made this point several times that liberals are only liberal when you are in total compliance with their sick and twisted down right unamerican thinking.

Yes I said unamerican, because there is nothing about america that the farleft liberals do not want to change.

They wish the total annialation of religion from any public forum, they think the common man is some kind of idiot and needs there guidence, well we don't. they think that murdering a fetus is ok, they think that the whole world is right and america is wrong all the time.
They thing the greatest threat to freedom is america and I for one am tired of it.

They think handouts for the poor for the rest of there lives is just fine unto the 4th generation and past that even.

Ok small baby rant over.

It's a point that I also made in another posting, but as a European, I'm always bemused (confused?) by the way that American conservatives refer to the 'left' in general as 'liberals'. Granted that your political spectrum is slanted far further to the Right than in the rest of the western world, and is also somewhat narrower, it still seems strange to me that 'liberals' should be the conservative bogeyman. In the rest of the democratic world the Right ranges from nasty fascist/nazi types through to moderate conservatives and the Left ranges from moderate social democrats all the way through to far left communists and trotyskyists. For us, the 'liberals' are the cuddly moderates in the middle, which is basically where I seem to have ended up in early middle age.

I may not know as much as some of you about American history, but I do know something about its famous liberals: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin... These were men who had resolved to throw of the tyranny of a foreign monarchy while being utterly steeped in the British (and continental) liberal tradition. The poetry of the declaration of Independence (how many other 'political documents' are so aesthetically beautiful?) resonates with liberal values. Judging by the articles I read here from modern day American 'conservatives', these men would today be labelled 'unAmerican'...

All very perplexing...

MM posts this moronic garbage from time to time, apparently, just to invite liberals and democrats in to get skewered by the neoconservatives here. Not many biters anymore. You're not worth it.

Ok Smart ass. I will ask you. What the hell is a neo con other than a slam?

Dont know? Give up? Wrong again!

How can you tell a liberal from a conservative? just check who is clueless. That's the liberal.

I don't think this is fair. You talk about the slurring, looney left hating Bush while the cosnervatives on this thread write about preparing to shoot and fire upon the liberals who are all always out of touch with reality.

"How can you tell a liberal from a conservative? just check who is clueless. That's the liberal." You accuse a liberal of slurring, and turn right around and produce a slurring of your own.

You hope that you can get into a sane political discussion free from personal attacks, all while making these claims that liberals are the anitChrist.

American liberals hate America? Where did a mainstream liberal ever say that they hated America? Maybe they just believe that improving America will come from actions different from what you think will improve the nation.

Too many straw men are being burned.

I admit that I'm not sure if you're talking about all who fit in the liberal section of the political spectrum, or just the far left.

If you're talking about the far left, they do not constitute a large chunk of Americans, just some radicals who, because they are radicals and far from the apathetics or the center, like to post on political forums. So why talk about them? You speak of waiting for the loonies of the left to show up and make outlandish ideologue-spewings. You're ASKING for them to make these spewings. You're encouraging it.

If you're talking about all liberals as the people you described, which I don't think you are, but just incase I misinterpreted: not all liberals believe in the same things. There are shades of gray. It's called a political spectrum because there are shades.

(also, hating Bush does not place you at the far end of the spectrum; it reflects on your character, being someone who forms an extremely negative opinion about someone's overall being just because of their politics)

Well, I bit. I'm not a liberal, but I bit.

(And before you call me a liberal, I'd just like to say you can't say that because you have not heard of my policy positions or of the ideological motivations behind them. But if you're curious, a leading conservative at my school spoke with me for a while before declaring me "interesting" because he finally decided that I was a pragmatic centrist, while he was a self-declared ideologue. And I hope our troops and country make it out of this okay.)
