America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
The more I see, the more I wonder.

After watching several "sermons" delivered at the Holy Trinity Church A couple delivered by Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the most recent by a Catholic priest named Michael Pfleger, all of them with a definite racist slant with an outpouring of hatred for the white race.

I could not help but notice the amount of enthusiasm the predominate black audience showed, leaping about, screaming amen as more hatred was spewed on the white race. I cannot help but wonder, is this how the black race really sees us? As devils that need to be put down like an animal in the dog pound? With attitudes like this can there ever be a true coming together of the races?

I can understand the anger over slavery, it was a despicable time in American history, but none of these people were slaves, none of their parents were slaves, the blacks have more opportunity for advancement than white folk have simply because they are black. Slavery ended more than 150 years ago, it might be time to get over it.

Hatred breeds more hatred, when will it end?

Little whips point of how can we believe that Obama who seems to
surround himself with race haters and claims ignorance of the whole
deal is a little hard to believe. Obama seems to be a very smart and
well educated man, aware of his surroundings, I find it impossible to
believe he does not in some way have some racist leanings himself.

Let's think about this for a sec. What IF this were true? What if Obama IS ignorant about this whole deal?

Here is a man that is trying to portray himself as someone with good judgement even condemning Bush, McCain, etc for poor judgement. What does this say about HIS (Obama's) judgement if he doesn't even know the people he has surrounded himself around?

Rezco verdict: Guilty. There is some evidence linking Obama in there. Obama may become the first DNC nominee to end up in jail while campaigning for President!

But trying doesn't guarentee you getting any closer to being out of your circumstance.

No, but not trying gets you nowhere. There is no guarantee of success. There is a guarantee of failure - to not try.

good point AD. So what you're saying is "why in the world would we want to vote for someone like Obama who doesn't know what's going on even in his own church (forget about a whole country) after being a part of this church for 20 years?"

It sounds like a lose-lose situation here. Either he really does know and is lying about it to disengage himself for political gain or he really is ignorant and not aware of what's been going on right under his nose even after shelling out thousands of dollars to this institution.

Now, do we want him to be a steward of our hard earned bucks if he can't even be a good steward of his own? He's already said he wants to raise taxes. Do we trust his decisions? What does he have to show us he can even make good decisions?

So far I'm not impressed.

Sure KFC, but how many of us who go to church see an immoral downfall coming? If we have a pastor who has a moral failure, does that automatically disqulify us? I have been a part of churches that  I did not fully embrace.  Even Piper says no church is perfect. But it may not be for a while that something this extreme happens.

you comment about doc guys comment is right to the point. either way. After 20 years he claims ignorance of any racism in Trinity United, either he is a liar or totally unconscious. Is this the kind of man we want running our country?

BTW Sabrina, how are you? You had surgery recently, right?Yes, cg, thanks for asking. I'm healing, (albeit slowly) and have a way to go with physical therapy, having lost a good deal of flexibility in my right wrist. Other than that, I'm just hanging in there, waiting for the next thing to go wrong, haha.Good news yesterday, (for once!) It doesn't look like I have macular degeneration, but we won't know for sure until I have a second test in 6 months so they can compare results. That one had me scared...And while I'm babbling off-topic, Elie, could you try to give me a call this afternoon? I had something important to tell you the last time we spoke and it totally slipped my mind. (bad me, baa'aad me!)

Sure, since I know your hand hurts to much to dial my phone.. eh eh eh eh eh!!!!

If a church is preaching heresy you shouldn't need 20 years to figure this out. Usually a few months will suffice. Then you have the decision to make. Do I stay because I like the people and enjoy the friendships or do I leave because I'm contributing to..in this case a "hate filled" atmosphere from the very top? This preacher just didn't start ranting and raving. This church has a racist history behind it, so it's not brand new. It's only coming to the forefront now because of Obama's participation in it.

You should go to a particular church because they best represent what you believe. And for 20 years we can now see quite clealy where Obama has aligned himself.

Besides, is it really that bad?

Hmmm...Can you remind me of what Wright said that was heresy? Are you sure it was 'hated-filled' 20 years ago?  I lived near the church for a while in Chicago and racism is not what it was known for.  What proof do you offer that the Sunday morning soundbyte heard around the world was a normal occurance for 20 years?

While I believe Wright's opinions to be wrong, I find it difficult to link it to Obama.  I doubt very seriously that he would have the congregation he does if all he spoke on is hate.  Hopefully you agree or you really do believe that Blacks hate whites pretty uniformly.
