America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
This Mornings news
Published on July 26, 2007 By Moderateman In Surgery

WELL my friends my surgery date has been set for Sept 12th this year, now I get to worry a whole 6 weeks before the cutting begins, LET THE FEAR BEGIN!!

This morning I finally had my 'reading' of my MRI about my right shoulder problems, well the good news is, no torn rotator cuff, the bad news is I have frozen shoulder syndrome. meaning some ligaments and tendons have attached themselves to part of the bone itself.

So when I get a surgery date I will be out of writing commission for about a month, the Doctor told me it will take about 12 weeks to heal, with physical therapy.

I cannot tell you how afraid I am to be rendered Unconscious for surgery, after the coma in January any thoughts of being unconscious without ME BEING IN CCONTROL of when I wake up scares me half to death. The surgery will be removing the tendrils of ligament and tendon that does not belong and shaving the bone in the socket so there is more room for it to move freely. Sounds like some serious pain in my future.

I am sure there are a few of you that would love to never see the name moderateman on a blog again. Maybe even one or two of you hope I will not come out of surgery alive. For you all I can do is pray. For the rest, when my surgery date is set I will update, and on the day of surgery will ask for prayers, kind thoughts, small animal sacrifices, whatever for a successful surgery and fast healing.

Animal sacrifices on their way, Elie!

And screw being out of commission, grab yourself a copy of 'Dragon Naturally Speaking' or any other speech-to-text program and spend a couple of days 'training' it before your surgery. Then you can just sit here and TALK to us, and not have to type!

Check it out. Being able to blog will help you pass the time while you recuperate. In regards to being anesthetized, have you asked about either a local or a epidural? This would allow you to remain awake for the surgery, sweets.

Call me if you need to kvetch and moan. Or even if you don't. (smooche)

will check it out, anything to be able to annoy the left, heh heh, will call if and when my dear.

Best of luck with the surgery.  I have been out only once really, and had never thought of your fear.  But then I have not been in a coma before.  I can see that being scary for you.

Hopefully your hiatus will not be long.  ANd you will be back in fine form before the doctors think you are!!!

Keep us posted, MM. And, I highly recommend checking out LW's link -- I mean, what would we do without you for a couple of months -- that would be crazy and unbearable!

I'll be pulling for your speedy recovery. I think your worries about going under are completely understandable but try to stay positive. Imagine the best possible outcome before you go in. Imagine all of the cells in your body healing together and making you whole. Call me a new-age weirdo but I totally believe in the power of positive thinking and the mind/body connection.

Do check into whether you could have a local instead of going under like Whip said. Keep us posted.

it really is docG, much to my surprise the fear is stronger about being unconscious than the surgery itself.

What is the sound of one hand wanking?

(oooh baby oooh baby oooh baby)

Not that you'd ever engage in such a thing, Elie. Not with a beautiful wife like Colleen to give you a hand.

hehe.

ah leave it to you to make me laugh, thank you.

I am to much a pussy to be conscious while they are doing whatever, I am going to opt for the twilight drug, versed I think it is called.

I'm terrible about calling people -- all people. I talked to my best friend this weekend for the first time in months (she lives in the UK). I think I overdid phone usage as a teen and now avoid it like the plague. Though, I'm sure for you I'd make an exception.

Don't worry, be happy. Or is it don't worry, life's crappy. Or should it be don't worry, I'm sure your shoulder surgery will go great.
