1st Lt. Ehren Watada has refused orders to deploy to Iraq, I wrote about this in June 2006 http://moderateman.joeuser.com/articlecomments.asp?AID=120935&s=1

He is being court marshaled for missing deployment and refusing a direct order:This man has refused to go to IRAQ,. Declaring nationally that Iraq is an unjust war.

While I admire his informed decision, and willingness to stay and face the consequences instead of running away like most people do when facing justice in the military, I do not agree with his decision and think it demoralizes the Stryker Division in which he WAS part of the command structure, and in general by going on television and letting the far left anti-American Liberals use him as a poster boy is harmful to the men and women fighting in the Afghanistan and Iraq war in general.

His first court marshal was declared a mistrial and he is due to be court marshaled again in October 2007, while being free and at a duty station safe from harm in the state of Washington. Lt. Watadas Father Robert {bob} Watada } is a well known anti-war activist dating back to the Vietnam conflict.

If you had the power to pronounce sentence on this man what would it be, if any? That is if he is found guilty of course.

Dunno Danie, Ehren offered his services to the Army in 2003 during the war, so he knew he might have to go to Afghanistan or Iraq, I guess the reality of having to go was to much for him to take.

He should definitely be found guilty.

He didn't join prior to the Iraq war, and he has benefited big time from what the US Army has to offer.

My husband was a man and went to Afghanistan AND Iraq. He left a pregnant wife and two sons and will come home to a little girl who is nearly a year old. He doesn't agree with the Iraq war either and joined prior to the war, but he has continued to serve honorably.

Watada is a disgrace.
