America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
Accepting Gifts from Lobbyist is only wrong if you are republican
Published on December 12, 2006 By Moderateman In Politics

Remember this name.. Congresswoman Tubbs Jones.

Since the year 2000 she has accepted 72 gifts from people like lobbyists, this included free airfare, top notch hotels that were paid for, free food and gifts. This comes to A free trip a month roughly.

Ms. Jones sits on the house and means commitee.

When questioned about her activities she replied.

It's ok because I am the only Black female on this commitee

Well now, I wonder why the MSM has not been reporting on this underhanded behavior.

Be sure if it was a Republican trying to excuse this scandalous chicanery with such a transparent excuse the MSM would lose their collective narrow minded brains.

Yet Ms Jones reply, starting with the playing of the race card, {an all time favorite of Blacks} Try pinning them down and they say "you are only after me because I am black" Not because She is a crook!!

ShadesofGray:

Even if (and that's a big if) Tubb Jones took this as a gift from a lobbyist, we are talking about $4K. Tom DeLay took illegal trips worth more than $200K--where's my outrage, you ask? Where's your sense of perspective?

Please Shades, tell me that you didn't just defend Tubbs by pointing out how much cheaper he can be bought than Tom DeLay!!! ;~D

Since when has the strict rule of law mattered to Dem supporters? 74 trips during the seven-year period. All the time we hear that while x,y, or z isn't illegal, it still exemplifies the "culture of corruption" when a Republican is the focus. It didn't matter that you couldn't get two legal experts with the same opinion of whether they were legal or not.

Nope, Democrats can do anything they like. They can stuff $90k in the freezer after accepting it on tape as a bribe. They can be in charge of financing the FBI when they are being investigated by the FBI.

They can say they'll enact the 9/11 commission's recommendation and then defy them immediately after winning the election. Shadesofgrey doesn't have a foot to stand on. The standards that Dems have demanded are the ones that now convict the Dems themselves.

MM--I honestly havent read anything on the 74 trips, so I can't comment on them. The one I can comment on is the one that I did. THe trip to PR which was legal and above board, but for which the papers were filed incorrectly and have since been changed.

BS--As for me not having a leg to stand on--it's a pretty good thing I'm not a Dem and don't work for Dems, huh?

I bust my ass to play this lobbying game above board on a daily basis -- and I do. So yes, it angers me when slimebuckets get away with bending/breaking the rules, cause frankly, it makes my job harder. But it also annoys the hell out of me when people jump on the backs of those who are playing by the rules when there is blatant and rampant corruption going on.

Please Shades, tell me that you didn't just defend Tubbs by pointing out how much cheaper he can be bought than Tom DeLay!!! ;~D

Ted, I wasn't defending Jones at all, I was defending my lack of outrage.

AH!  I see!  Democrat graft is nothing.  Republican (allegations BTW - or did you forget that?) Automatically bad!

Ah well, we have at least 2 years of excuses to go through now, dont we?

But you have to admit that it doesn't matter if they really play by the rules or not. Would you say that everything Delay was originally accused of was against the rules or illegal? Don't you think this is a 'do as I say, not as I do' situation?

For me the problem is when it's a Republican you hear howling and calls for punishment from the MSM immediately. But same circumstances with a Democrat and suddenly the MSM is silent. Or The Democrats excuse it with a litany of wrong doing from the right. As if it's only wrong if a republican does it.

It's not considered graft or bribes when a Democrat gets caught, it's only against the law when a republican does it. IMO
