America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
Could they FORCE the Senate to play nice?
Published on November 9, 2006 By Moderateman In US Domestic

While both these men have pledged to caucus with the Democrats, in theory they could force the Senate to learn how to get along.

With these two men abstaining it would be a 49 to 49 split between the Republicans and the Democrats leaving no Majority nor a Minority party.

There would have to be 2 leaders for every commitee, A republican and a democrat.

If these two men truly have the best interest of the COUNTRY AT HEART, they can Force a coming together in the Senate.

Imagine a world with the United States Senate getting along and having to work together on all issues?

This is a unique opportunity that should NOT be allowed to pass.

It's pretty clear these guys will caucus with the Democrats. Lieberman stands to have some pretty sweet committee appointments, and all he has to do is threaten to go over to the dark side in order to get whatever he wants. He's a slimy dickhead, and I despise him, but he's what Connecticut wants, so therefore, a necessary evil.

Sanders, on the other hand, has been described as "socialist," so he's much less likely than Lieberman to stay out of things. Both of these guys have too much to gain personally to do anything else.

I doubt bernie will be any thing more than a Reid clone, but Lieberman will use his status.  Maybe he will moderate the democrats.  Supposedly most of the newly elected Dems are moderates as well, but then we will see by their actions, not their words over the next 2 years.

Actually, if that were the case, Cheney would get the deciding vote and the Republicans would be in power.

As Myrr said, there's no reason Sanders wouldn't caucus with the Dems (as he's done in the House), and Lieberman has publicly stated that he would caucus with the Dems.

I'd still love to see Lieberman jump over to the so-called dark side.  Let him really leave the Democrats in the lurch and pay them back in much the same way they treated him.

Won't happen, but would be very interesting if it did.  I suppose it could happen if ultimate liberal Pelosi and her friends in the House start pushing a wacko leftist agenda that Lieberman just can't stomach, but it won't be anytime soon.

Following up on Dr. Guy's comments - I'm hoping that the so called centrists/conservative Democrats/moderates are what were elected, but I'm not counting on it.  People have said that James Webb and others like him that the Democrats put up for this election are in that mold, but the proof is completely in the pudding.  Lets see how these folks vote and just what they do support and then we'll really know.

these 2 guys have an opportunity that almost never happens, if I was Joe I would make the liberal left behave.

Webb is a former Republican, he's pretty centrist...Tester is pretty moderate, too.
