As one ages and is a political animal, which is MORE likely?

Changing from Liberal to Conservative OR changing from Conservative to Liberal?

I'm not a regular reader here, just dropped by after following a link to a different post on this blog from somewhere else. But I'll chime in all the same I've moved from conservative (~18yo) to right-leaning libertarian (~24yo) to left-leaning libertarian (~31yo) to libertarian-leaning pragmatist (now, 35yo).

Liberals are, to me, more idealistic. Conservatives, on the other hand, are more realistic.

I've found that liberals, conservatives, and libertarians are all idealistic. Each has different ideals, to be sure, but they're all idealistic, to the country's detriment. Which is why I now identify as "pragmatist." My only political principle is, if it works, keep doing it; if it doesn't, try something else. Idealists are those who implement policies in line with their high-level political principles, then if they don't work the way they expected, say, "Well, this is supposed to be working, so we'll keep on doing it."
