America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~

Is America being sold down the river due to the liberal lefts blind hatred for all things conservative and all things implemented by President Bush?

This story is brought to you by the same reporter that sold out America earlier this year by exposing how the NSA was tracking Phone calls made by suspected Terrorist.

This administration asked the Times to hold this most recent story due to national security.

Their request was denied, so the Times could once again try to expose President Bush.  This program has been declared lawful by the SCOTUS.

The SWIFT program is responsible for aiding in the capture of the BALI bombing Mastermind.

I believe it's time to start locking some reporters up till they spill who broke the law by tipping them off to this most recent story.

We need to start prosecuting for sedition again

I am not familiar with that. I thought it was treasonous what they are doing, all I see the only benefit from what the Times does is aid and abet the enemy.

Headline; date June 6th 1944, Allies due to land at NORMANDY!

I agree MM.  It is just stupidity and pure hatred on their part.  The story was really a non-story.  The real story is that they considered it too important to hold, and had to run it.  It shows that they care nothing for America, only their burning hatred.

I'm torn on this, MM. I don't think it's sedition on the part of the reporters, but I don't think that the President is breaking the law, either, as long as there is some degree of Congressional oversight. Congress does have the Constitutional authority to regulate commerce, and this definitely applies. While I don't like the fact that banking transactions are traced, I know they have been for a long time, and do many of my transactions "off the grid" with cash so that they can't be as easily tracked. If terrorists can't figure out THAT much, they deserve to be caught.

(P.S. D-Day was 1944, not 1945!)

there are many layers of oversight on this including the bankers in BELGIUM making sure information gathered is used for the purpose of tracking money back and forth between terrorist.

oops my bad I did mean 1944

Yet another example of how some reporters work to make sure terrorist attacks occur, after all, they make for awful exciting bylines right?

Why stop the story, if preventing the story hurts your career, but covering the story makes it?  Where would Ted Koppel be today if Nightline wasn't launched to cover the Iran Hostage Crisis?  Where would Walter Cronkite be without the Vietnam War? Dan Rather appeared on camera, in Afghanistan (reporting on the Soviet Invasion), wearing a traditional Mujahedeen outfit.  His rise to the top was all but insured.

Of course, covering the news is their job, and (like every other profession) those who make a name for themselves will rise to the top.  I have nothing against them wanting to be the best at what they do... however, all to often it is the press becoming the story that helps reporters along, instead of how well they can do the job.

"At first, they got everything — the entire Swift database," one person close to the operation said.

“Officials realized the potential for abuse, and narrowed the program's targets and put in more safeguards”.

Yea I’m sure some official said “gee golly fellows I just realized, some of this data could be abused, we better put same safeguards in quick before that happens”. I’m sure they then deleted all the financial data that didn’t concern terrorism.

”Among them were the auditing firm, an electronic record of every search and a requirement that analysts involved in the operation document the intelligence that justified each data search. Mr. Levey said the program was used only to examine records of individuals or entities, not for broader data searches”.

However since they have now put in place some oversight there was absolutely now reason for the Times to print this story. I agree this does nothing but hinder efforts to thwart attacks and was only done because Times is that pissed at the president that they would screw with our security just to take another jab.

I doubt anyone will be charged with treason but I certainly hope there should be some serious ramifications for this.

Reporters use to be {past tense} partriots too. these new breed reporters would sell their mothers into prostitution if it might bring Bush down.

I'm all for freedom of the press, but these assholes should be buried under a Federal prison for treason plain and simple. There is no reason for these asshats to be aiding the enemy in a time of war and they should be tried under wartime treason charges.

You know that the liberal media would never pass up the opportunity to blow our security in favor of putting out a story that claims that our civil rights are all in danger as the third reich (the W. administration) tramples and shreds the constitution and the bill of rights.

I wrote a civil war article yesterday, the reason I wrote it, is because that is just what we are in, a shotless, bloodles, civil war. Yet much like the shooting one, the life of the country is at stake once again.

They only champion the parts that make themselves into martyrs. The last bastion of freedom, aggrandizing themselves for all of America to see.
