this is mine:

I pledge my heart to the United states of america and to the ideals for which it stand, I shall put no country before america, for we are one nation, indivisable, with liberty and justice for all.

Yes. The point being you have a choice to 'swear' (religious oath) or 'affirm'. Exactly the same thing applies in a British court of law where you can "swear by Almighty God that the evidence I will give will be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" or simply 'affirm' the same, without a mention of God.

From what I have been able to discover I believe the same applies in US courts. However some sources that I have seen claim that, while this is true in Federal courts, individual State laws make a religious oath in court mandatory in some US States. Is anyone here able to tell me if this is true?

and that's why I feel people saying the pledge here in america should have A CHOICE.

I say take everything out EXCEPT "under God." That says it all, and covers just about everything!
