gotta say doc , I agree with the ban on fully auto weapons.

Come on MM, you know better than that! The AWB had absolutely "nothing" to do with full auto firearms! Full autos have been banned in the US since 1934.

Anything new is from some dishonest idiot with enough learning do conversions to semi's. Or stolen. They are legal in AZ. It still requires a ton of fed and state paperwork and a "BUNCH" of fees, but you can own them (but only in AZ). The ones who will jump through the hoops to have one will not be the guys using them in that fashion. I would not do it but I have in my posession a book that explains how to convert a mini14 to full auto and it does not require a machine shop to do it. Also the 1934 ban is against importation and mfg of new ones. It really did not address the question of what to do with what was already here. But the AWB makes no mention of them. It only mentions certain ones like an AR-15 which is semi only. Most of the parameters have to do with look, NOT function. IE: no flash supressor, no pistol grip stocks, no bayonet lug (how many crimes are commited with a bayonet attached?), no detachable hi cap mags, etc. They do a better explation here: Link
