America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
Closed minds with futile anger
Published on March 17, 2005 By Moderateman In Politics
The far left simply put is arrogant beyond belief, so sure they have solutions to all the problems of America they cannot even begin to have civil discourse.

They are locked into the mindset, “we are right and everyone else is wrong”

A perfect example of closed-minded is one person I ALLOW to post comments now on my site. When I asked her to return the favor she calls me names. She then DARES me to black list her again, well that’s not going to happen, I unlike the far left am open to changing my mind about things.

To be so sure that you are right and anyone with a differing opinion is totally wrong is absurd to the point of pure egomaniacal behavior.

The far left in their blindness and deaf ears, unless they change will just continue to lose the respect of right thinking Americans. I cheer when the far left disrespects America and her people with there obscene antics.

Moveon.org indeed has BOUGHT the Democratic Party, and I hope they understand that now that they broke it, they own it truly.

They far lefts have now trashed what filibuster is SUPPOSSED to stand for, blocking bills, not blocking nominations.

I can only hope and pray the far left never changes its childish ways, and continues to disrespect President Bush and fair open minded moderates like me, while continuing to distance themselves from middle America.

When Liberal judges legislating from the bench, overturning the will of the people and then being heralded by the leftwing for doing the right thing, I can only say WAY TO GO, left wing, keep up the good work, ignore Americans, use your very limited power to stifle free speech, GOD and freedom in general.

I for one DO NOT WANT YOU TO CHANGE.

"I unlike the far left am open to changing my mind about things."

Another way of putting this is that you flip-flop about on the issues. Where's your strength of conviction moderateman? (can I just say as an aside, that you and Moderate Response have chosen the least apt names on JU).

I have changed my mind on several things over time, despite being a far Leftie. I have changed my mind on Iraq, I am no longer an anti-Christian, and I am constantly changing my mind about the capitalism/communism debate. A lot of this has been as a result of reading Right wing JU blogs. In fact, some of my friends have been quite shocked by some of my opinions since coming to JU. Yet on some other issues, I am far Lefter than I used to be when I used to date a member of the Liberal Party (remembering that these are the conservatives in Australia).

But what I also don't get about your article, is that while I can see your point about many on the far Left, I think these criticisms can equally be applied to George Bush 2.0: If ever there was someone so arrogant as to think they had all the answers about how to bring peace and democracy to the world, it is him. He thinks everyone else is so wrong, he invaded Iraq without the UN. This highlights a problem with your logic: Bush won becauseof/in spite of this arrogance, yet the Far Left apparently loses because of it. Please explain.

no explaination will suit you, so I will offer none.

Well that disappoints me and I would expect better of you. I am seriously intrigued by why the Right thinks that the same things it does are the reasons the Left loses elections. Do you think there are subtle differences in the way Bush does arrogance that make it work for him? I don't think you've adequately extrapolated on your argument. I am perhaps likely to disagree with you, but I would at least like you to explain to me how you come to this conclusion so that I can at least see where you're coimg from.

'I for one DO NOT WANT YOU TO CHANGE.'
So why do you blog about it? Wouldn't the sensible thing be to keep shtum, so as not to alert the 'far left' to what you perceive as the folly of their ways?
Or perhaps you just like the (let's adapt this to the medium) shape of your own font ...

You mistake resolve for arrogance.  It is one thing to evaluate all courses of action and then decide upon the one that you feel is best.  It is another to dismiss any other course of action out of hand simply because you are too arrogant to think that anyone but you can come up with the correct answer.

That is the difference between Bush 2.0 and the Liberals.

No offense Mod, I like you.

But I'm wondering why an article that is basically an anti-Dabe rant got featured on JU?

on Mar 18, 2005
Wow, resolve for arrogance, huh? So, if I understand you correctly, if a liberal makes a decision they made that decision without thinking of any alternatives but when a conservative makes a decision it is because they thought of every other option. By you knowing that this is true it would then be true to say that you are Omnipotent, or Godlike, for knowing every thought of every liberal and conservative. I don't think it gets much more arrogant than thinking that you are a God.

The bottom line is that there is arrogance on both sides of the fence and both sides think they are doing what is best for their country and community. It is also true that both sides have made mistakes in the past and will probably continue to make mistakes. The good thing about having at least two different thoughts is first, it allows there to be a choice and second, it can lead to the formation of other possible solutions.

I do agree with Moderateman that everyone should leave the name calling aside because that never helps your position or changing someone's mind. Instead I would hope that people would just stop generalizing what liberals and conservatives are and, instead, debate the issues with facts first and feelings second. Usually the answer lies somewhere in the middle.

You dont read much around here do you?  Why must you take a specific statement and turn it into a generality? Where, anywhere, did I even remotely indicate that is what all liberals do.  Do I have to qualify each and every statement?  If so, then communication as we know it will cease.

The subject was the liberal leadership.  Now if you want to qualify your rebuttal to me to ask if I meant that "Bush" has considered other options before deciding upon a course of action, and that "The liberal leadership" rejects any course of action not proposed by them, you would be correct.

As it is, you are just ignorant or cannot follow a thread.

Why is the left loosing elections?? It is because they oppose laws passed to guard against further terrorism (Patriot Act), they want unprotected borders that could allow the smuggling of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, they support judicial activism by unelected judges, they support government welfare programs, the left supports the public education system that has failed in educating the young people of this country, the left supports the persecution of the Christian religion using the false separation of church and state doctrine. Etc, etc, I could go on and on, but you get the idea. The support for these ideas and others that I did not list are lumped together, the result of these pursuits are DETREMENTAL to the US. This is especially true when the opposition to the war on terror is considered. The left does not understand that the Islamic terrorists want to KILL US ALL only because we are Americans. No amount of reason, monetary aid, or extending our hand in friendship will have any effect. This is something that the left cannot and will not recognize. I hope the left continues to loose elections.
