America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
The great American eagle has two wings, metaphorically this represents the two parties {that matter} of American politics.

The right wing of which I am a proud member of, and the left wing which I USED to be a proud member of.

Although the right wing is far from perfect, we are much more in touch with how the average American thinks and feels.

As far as I can tell the right wing is doing most of the “work” these days, which is why America is spinning around in circles.

While the left wing is busy preening and flexing its non existent muscles the eagle {which for the left mean AMERICA}(as you can see I am making sure the left can understand this post so I am over simplifying things} America is in danger and the left wing is doing nothing but congratulating themselves for the “great champions “ of the American people they are and how ungrateful the common man is to them.

When is the left going to learn in order for American to grow and remain great, they are going to have to do some serious changes, get more BACK in line with the Majority of America, which means tradition, tradition and tradition.

So while all you lefties are busy slapping each other on the back going on and on about how you all are best for America, try to give us of the right some room to do the real work of protecting America and making her more prosperous.

We've had many presidents who never saw a single act of terrorism on American soil (by a foreign terrorist) during their terms. But that's not necessarily any thanks to them. No more than we can blame Clinton for Waco or Columbine, can you really give Bush the credit for preventing an additional act of terror thus far?

And how does giving tax breaks make a poltical leaning stronger? The U.S. government has been giving out tax breaks to corporations for decades, should we be in awe of their great strength?

-Suspeckted

we {my wife and I} are not a corp. yet we received more money back thru the tax breaks.

as for no terror attacks thru out many other presidencies......... NOW WHO IS STRETCHING AND GRASPING AT STRAWS?

economy on the rise... inflation low, no terror here in the states.. tax breaks.. must i go on?

Tax cuts, in the present system, are not a sign of a good economy. On the contrary, the tax cuts are used, in the present context, as a countercyclical measure to restabilise the economy. The 2001 market crash forced an ideological shift in the economical doctrines of the Bush administration and cause an effective end to the neoliberal policies that he previously had ran under in 2000 and a return of the new Keynesian system.

(not sure if you meant the economy was going great by that affirmation, but it seemed to be the pictures you were painting)

Did anybody else notice the fundamental contradiction in Moderateman's initial posting?

1. ' As far as I can tell the right wing is doing most of the “work” these days, which is why America is spinning around in circles.'
2. 'So while all you lefties are busy slapping each other on the back going on and on about how you all are best for America, try to give us of the right some room to do the real work of protecting America and making her more prosperous.'

So which is it Moderateman? Does the left need to do more 'work', or do they need to get out of the way so that the right can do it all? You can't have it both ways!

American left wing?
Now thats an oxymoron.
America has a right wing and a far right wing. Flying in wide circles or tight circles, but circles all the same.

The United States already had their boom in the 1990s and they won’t see another one for many many years. No government can divert enough resources to effectively relaunch the economy when they are occupying a country and engaging in a “global” war on terror costing over 100 billions a year. They need more tax cuts and more investment from the government. At this rate, the recession could easily drag until 2010 - 2015.

Europe wasn’t hit nearly has hard by the crash and should be back on its feet by ‘07 - ‘08. China is a whole other story and can’t easily be compared to other occidental economies.

It is nice that we stopped the left slide into mediocrity. Now we need an FDR/JFK to lead us again into greatness. Sadly, I dont see any on the horizon. I hope I am wrong.

I couldn't agree with you more, Dr. The Democrats are headed for a political implosion that will leave a lot of careers dead in its wake. The has-beens will be knee deep, and an efficient culling of the Platform will be the first step towards sweeping them away. Democrats lack party identification right now. As many of you have said, the bickering and BS (for the young ones among us I mean Bamboo Sneakers) does not an electorate mobilize, nor an election win. They should remember the folly of the Whig Party - lack of consensus and "anti-oposition" politics leads to certain firery doom. DOOooooOOOOOooooOOOOOmm I tell you!

..........sorry, I lost my mind for a moment.

aaaaaanyway, Democrats need to know who they are and what they stand for, and by god they need to feel proud about that again. This is the party of Truman, of FDR, of Kennedy......those who so many times chose not only to see things as they are and say "why?", but to dream of things that never were and say "why not?" Yes, the Republicans are known as the defenders of tradition, the harkers back to the glory days when the air was cleaner, the dollar worth more, and when children respected their elders. And it is many of those core values that form the underpinnings of this great nation. But without innovation, without inspiration, without trial and error, without taking that leap of faith towards a better world, we will fade into antiquity, a people of the past, unable to take part in what is because of our unquestioning love of what once was.

In Oliver Stone's film "Nixon" , the swan song of the president is a last walk through the White House. He stops at a painting of John F. Kennedy, remarking, "When they see you, they see what they want to be. When they see me, they see what they really are."

America really is like that, in my opinion. We live right now in a age of unparralled cynnicism and distrust. Why? because we have seen too many years where idealism has had no champion. The liberals need to bring forth one, someone that will make people believe again, that will make them be proud to shoot for the moon. Realism isn't more right and Idealism isn't either. But the two of them combined, like Moderateman said at the beginning, make up America. For it is here that we always shoot for the moon, but also always remember to bring enough oxygen to get us back to earth.

We build on the solid foundations of the past in order to make an even better future, for ALL AMERICANS.

Is this speachy, yes. But I really think that deep down, it's true.

It used to be..."Those who can DO...Those who can't TEACH"...now those that can't do becpme republicans.

Then how did the Teacher's Unions become so Democrat!!!! ;~D

If the right wing has gotten so strong, I'm sure they'll fly using their most common resource -- hot air.

That's why we need you for the left wing.

PLEASE give us a candidate to vote for!

Uhmm..... Yoda ?

Carter suffered from analysis paralysis. It's common in liberals, and some conservatives too. It comes from being entirely too concerned with seeing muitiple sides of the equation to acutally make a decision. I just said the man was ethical and seemingly honest as well...most of his scandals didn't involve his finances, but his family...and who's family ISN'T embrassing at times. I don't think a scandal free office is possible.

I agree with you that he was one of the most ethical and honest Presidents in recent times.  If your Analysis Paralysis is the same as 'Micro Manage', then I agree with you there as well.  He never learned how to delegate and trust his advisors, and that is why he failed.

hate to defend a dem, pres but was da ugly goil att. gen, what was her name? she was not to memoryable, just tall and ugly as sin.

Harry Truman - The Buck stops at the president.  While he did not make the call, just like the Dems are tarring Bush with Abu Ghraib, Clinton was guilty for #1, hiring an incompetant boob (or 2) for the AG, and #2, for not reigning her in (this because she knew where his skeletons were buried).
