America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
An Article by Sweet Ann Coulter

In their latest demonstration of how much they love the troops, liberals have produced yet another anti-war hoax.

The New Republic has been running "true war" stories from a brave, anonymous liberal penning dispatches from Iraq. The famed "Baghdad Diarist" described his comrades joyfully using Bradley fighting vehicles to crush stray dogs, mocking a female whose face had been blown off by an IED, and defacing Iraqi corpses by wearing skull parts on their own heads.

Various conservatives began questioning the plausibility of the anonymous diarist's account -- noting, for example, that Bradley vehicles don't "swerve," as the diarist claimed. The editor of The New Republic responded by attacking the skeptics' motives, complaining that some conservatives make "a living denying any bad news that emanates from Iraq."
But when that clever retort failed to quiet rumblings from the right wing, The New Republic finally revealed the "Baghdad Diarist" to be ... John Kerry! Actually it was Pvt. Scott Thomas Beauchamp, Democratic candidate for president circa 2028. (That gives him 20 years to learn to pronounce "Genghis.")

In revealing himself two weeks ago, Beauchamp lashed out at "people who have never served in Iraq." He said he was too busy fighting "an actual war" to participate in "an ideological battle that I never wanted to join."

He had tried to stay out of ideological battles by writing made-up articles in a national magazine claiming soldiers in Iraq had become callous beasts because of George Bush's war, killing to "secure the riches of the empire." Alas, this proved an ineffective method of keeping his head low. Beauchamp's next bid for privacy will be an attempt to host "The Price Is Right."

In response to Beauchamp's revelation that he was the "Baghdad Diarist," the military opened an investigation into his allegations. There was no corroboration for his stories, and Beauchamp promptly signed an affidavit admitting that every single thing he wrote in The New Republic was a lie.

According to The Weekly Standard's Michael Goldfarb -- who has led the charge of those who "make a living denying any bad news that emanates from Iraq" -- Maj. Steven F. Lamb, the deputy public affairs officer for Multi-National Division-Baghdad, said this of the Baghdad diarist:

"An investigation has been completed and the allegations made by Pvt. Beauchamp were found to be false. His platoon and company were interviewed and no one could substantiate the claims."

In response, The New Republic went into full Dan Rather loon mode. This astonishing post showed up on The New Republic Web site on Tuesday afternoon:

"A STATEMENT ON SCOTT THOMAS BEAUCHAMP:

"We've talked to military personnel directly involved in the events that Scott Thomas Beauchamp described, and they corroborated his account as detailed in our statement. When we called Army spokesman Maj. Steven F. Lamb and asked about an anonymously sourced allegation that Beauchamp had recanted his articles in a sworn statement, he told us, 'I have no knowledge of that.' He added, 'If someone is speaking anonymously (to The Weekly Standard), they are on their own.' When we pressed Lamb for details on the Army investigation, he told us, 'We don't go into the details of how we conduct our investigations.' -- The Editors"

It's good to see Mary Mapes is working again.

What on earth is going on? Either the military investigation found that Beauchamp lied or it didn't. Either military personnel corroborated stories of soldiers wearing skulls as crowns or they didn't. Either Army spokesman Maj. Steven Lamb gave a statement to The Weekly Standard or he didn't.

At the same time as The New Republic was posting the above statement, which completely contradicted The Weekly Standard's update, renowned right-wing news outlet ABC News confirmed that the military has concluded that Beauchamp was writing "fiction." ABC also quoted Goldfarb's account and said that Maj. Lamb reiterated his statement that Beauchamp's stories were false to ABC. The New York Times had the same story on Wednesday.

The New Republic has gone mad. Perhaps the magazine brought its former employee, fantasist Steven Glass, out of retirement. It's long past time for The New Republic to file for intellectual Chapter 7. Arthur Andersen was implicated in fewer frauds.

And we wonder how Democratic congressmen can lie about a vote they lost on the floor of the House -- captured on CSPAN for all the world to see -- changing the vote so that they win.

America's imminent victory in Iraq and safety from terrorist attacks at home is driving them all crazy.

You do not know me... I have allot of hate for republicans because I believe allot of them are evil and are blindly working on destroying our constitution and what this country stands for! Your evil and you do not even know it...
on Aug 13, 2007
Liberals sound like pretty good people to me, why do you hate them so much?

I for one don't hate liberals, I just despise loons and asshats and you appear to hold membership cards in both clubs.

I think people who look down on and attack liberals are evil.

So you basically believe that anyone who thinks differently than yourself or disagrees with your particular view of things is evil? That pretty much fits the typical loon thinking pattern to a tee. I have no idea how old you are but based upon how you've expressed yourself to this point I'd guess about 14.

The fact is that many Liberals are pretty good people... not you of course... but many of the others.

beat me to it

What a douche bag.

lol - Tex tells it like it is.

So you admit to being a bigot. An honest bigot, but a bigot all the same.

I have not admitted to being a bigot, I'm not a "douche bag", I'm def. not a "loon", I'm def. no more of an asshat then any of you guys. I am treating you the same way the majority of you treat liberals, how does it feel? I know your just not use to it... Maybe I let it all out at once and you guys prob throw in a insult here and there but they are very harsh and what I had to say is no worse so please do not all attack me at once... I feel like a little fish in a shark pit and kinda was expecting this type of response. Oh but it is nice to come here and let out all of my anger every once in awhile. It's hard to live peacefully in this world knowing what is going on out there and how unjust it is. I do not fully understand why so many of you do not share the same feelings. I think because you are not fully aware of some of the things that go on behind the lines. There are many innocent lives that are being destroyed believe it or not and these people are no different then you and I. Try and imagine yourself in there place for a second and then you may see my frustration. Also we are there collecting oil and now the United States has a large abundance of it, so why can the citizens who have helped to fund the war and has had there brothers, sisters, dads, mothers go off to war and even die in it not enjoy that abundance of oil. Why are the gas prices so much higher then it use to be now? Why is the United States on the bottom of the list for health care systems? Why are there so many poorly maintained schools and why do the people who teach our children get paid so less? Why do I have to put my children in a private school to be sure they are being taught well? Why is there so much poverty in the richest country in the world? How in the world can Bush just throw who ever he wants into prison with no questions asked? What's happening to this country? Why are 2 highly decorated border patrol men being sentenced to 12 - 13 years in prison for shooting a drug smuggler in the ass (these men were in the military and did allot for this country). Has anyone here seen "Loose Change 9/11"? Have you seen "From Freedom to Fascism"? I'm deeply concerned about my children's future and the future of this country and world. I think if you were to think about it as much as I do then you may lash out like I have
on Aug 14, 2007
a) I was not referring to you as a douche bag, so you can remove that from your insults list.

Everyone on this thread (except maybe IG, I don't know about him) is either former military or a military spouse, so don't bother preaching that crap about us not knowing what goes on "behind the lines".

I think you truly believe we are there to fight the "War On Terrorism". Please take a second to think long and hard about it. If someone was to have a was on terrorism how would they go about doing so? Are we not creating more terrorist by doing what we are doing now? How can we possibly fight a "War on Terrorism" by destroying and taking over a country? The "War on Terrorism" is nothing but a smoke screen! It's entirely made up and there most def. is an ulterior motive. If I could get at least one of you to watch "Loose Change 911" http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7866929448192753501&q=loose+change+911&total=1775&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0 (if that link does not work then just got to google videos and type in "Loose Change 911" it's the first result) then that would make my week. If you would really like to see what's going on then you will watch the video it's most def. an eye opener.

Fortunately I do not have any friends or relatives that have fought in Iraq. I know the soldiers went over there with good intentions and am not trying to bash on them for fighting the war, they were mislead and I believe that is very wrong and that you all should be very upset. I hope the injured are being taken care of but with this country's track record I'm sure they are not and the government does not care about them and what they are doing. They are simply pawns to them. I'm sure many misfortunate soldiers share the same opinion and you will never get to hear what they have to say about it.
on Aug 14, 2007
Umm, there is no "mislead".

Hate the war, support the war, when your name is on the orders, you go. My husband is currently serving in Iraq. He doesn't agree with the war but he does his job and he does it to the best of his ability.

I don't think you understand the nature of military service.
on Aug 14, 2007
Yes they are forced and do not have much of a choice which is even worse. There are good soldiers and there are bad ones and I know all of them are not bad, are you aware that there is a ton of gang related people in the military now that group and form their own gangs with in the military? The system is getting pretty corrupt but the government does not care. As long as they fight their war they are happy. I'm very sorry to hear that your husband is fighting the war in Iraq. I know you may fear for his life because a small amount of people in Iraq still attack the American soldiers and you prob. have allot of hate for those people. There are good people over there and also bad just like everywhere else in this world, it does not make them all bad and there are allot of innocent people suffering. Why do they have to suffer? It's an ongoing cycle of hate and all we are doing is making it worse.

Wow very good post: https://forums.politicalmachine.com/?forumid=3&aid=94886 . You seem like a really good person Texas Wahine and I like to believe most liberals are.
on Aug 14, 2007
So if you hate republicans, Jacob, how are you not a bigot?

and don't even think about being condescending to Texas Wahine! Her and I disagree on a great many things, but there aren't very many people here at JU who wouldn't do anything we could for her.

Yes, many are some great liberals, great conservatives and great people everywhere in between. Unfortunately for you, you have chosen to hate people based on your own narrow preconceived notions... which means you define yourself as a bigot through your own words and actions.

Instead of hating us, why not just agree to disagree and enjoy some good (albeit sometimes heated) discussion? Or are you the type who can only enjoy a discussion with people you either agree with, or you are trying to "enlighten" with your profundity?

If our country is so horrible, why are people still willing to risk death to come and live here? Is there another country that you think get's it right? I would like to get paid as much as a teacher. You do not have to put your kids in private school, you chose to. A lot (allot is not a word btw) of the poverty is because people do not want to work. If foreigners who do not even speak English can make a living here, what is everyone elses excuse. Believe me there are questions being asked of Bush's policies and many of those asking aren't just liberals but conservatives as well. The border patrol agents shot the unarmed drug smuggler illegally, had a trial and were convicted by a jury of their peers. You don't get a free pass if you served in the military. They failed to report the shooting, lied to investigators, concealed evidence and filed a false report of the incident. Hardly the actions of innocent men.

I never understand these people who believe in this garbage.  There is no Sept. 11 conspiarcy, get over that nonsense already.  This is why people describe the left as "loony", because they believe this made-up nonsense that has absolutely NO FACTS to backup their accusations.
