America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
I know it should not hurt, but it does

Today on the phone I was just talking with my older brother about this and that, when the subject of Memorial day came up. He said he felt sorry for all the military that was overseas fighting and dieing for what he calls an unjust war. I had no comment about that, as I did not feel like arguing with him.

I told him today was a day to thank not just the military that was fighting and dieing in today's war, but to thank ALL military that has fought and died or fought and lived in any American war. Truly for the VERY FIRST time I wanted my brother to thank me for my service. Never in 41 years since I have gotten out of the Corps has he even mentioned it, but for some reason today I wanted his acknowledgement I fought, so he could be free to be a bleeding heart asshole.

Nope not a word, not a single word, he let my unintentional hint roll off his back like water rolling off the edge of a cliff, forming a waterfall. I must say, this time it hurt, my own brother who seems to care for everything, but the feelings of his kid brother.

Why can't he just say Thank you Elie for what you did?

It really is a shame that after so many years so many people are still bitter and divided over that war...and lots of families have big brothers that are poop-chutes...but I have peeked at enough of your stuff to suspect that you do not need others' approval...you know who you are. Let me add my thanks to the rest...your service was vital and honorable.

I can say most of the time I really do not give a fuck about some ones approval, so you are right there. It still would be nice if just once my only remaining member of my family {mom, dad, sister passed on} woulod just get off his bleeding heart liberal bullshit stance and say thanks.

I thank you for your comments and your thanks.

I know I'm a day late.

I too have a pretty narrow-minded older brother. As much as we like to say it doesn't bother us that is just our defense mechanism so that we can continue our lives. It sucks ALOT!

I hold upmost respect for those veterans who who live humbly as I imagine they served and do not use their service for political gain nor for selling their book. For those who served to make this world a better place not to make their OWN world a profitable place. These are the one's who do not constantly parade their service nor seek constant recognition. I will never understand what you went through during your service (even if I did serve) for each man has his own battle.

Even now Elie you are fighting a battle that only you can fight. I know that there isn't anything I can physically do to support your latest battle but you are in my prayers and I deeply thank you for your service.

Your brother may never recognize your sacrifice but he gets to live in the freedom you helped to secure. I do recognize and I DO thank you!

the best way to get help is to title a article called, Help me, teach me how to!!!

I cannot help you btw, and when I need help this is how I get it, post an article asking for help.

Post them to a free web site that lets you upload pictures (I use photobucket). After saving them to the web site, cut and paste the URL (they provide you with the links) to JU using the Image Button.

Elie, your service is appreciated.

Thank you.

Sometimes family can be the roughest when it comes to appreciation. They figure you already know they love you so what's the point in discussing the finer emotions?

first thank you tova.

This was the first time I WANTED MY BROTHER to say thank you, I already know he loves me, but for some strange reason this year after 41 years of being out of Vietnam I wanted him to say thank you. Strange, but true.

MM, I think this stems from your soul. In a sense so you can rest in peace (hopefully not for a long long time).

Just a thought.

we fought for years about him protesting the vietnam war while I was fighting it, I forgave him long ago for that, I wonder now if he has forgiven me.
