take the page of responses with me to the hospital today and read them to Elie. He has not regained consciousness since Sunday, but I'm betting that somewhere in there, he can hear my voice

was to begin mentally composing a post demanding northern california property owners be assessed no less than 6% of their real estate's 2010 projected value. all monies collected will be paid as salaries to a select group of high-level nation of islam members to compensate them being officially charged with overseeing all corporate oil production/refinery operations in the state. each would be appointed to the position of 'sultan' by the governor altho under penalty of law, no one except other sultans would be permitted to use that word in reference to these individuals.

i was just gettin to the part where each sultan could, in turn, appoint a member of hamas as his deputy when i realized i had to scoot right then or be two days late checking in with my parole officer.

Colleen, you said something about Elie being able to hear you even though he's comatose? I work for a hospice, and part of my duties include sitting with people who are dying. They're usually unresponsive and in a coma, but there's no doubt in my mind that they hear me talking to them. Absolutely none. Some of my patients have had pretty poor vital signs - until a family member with a voice that they recognize came to sit with them, then their blood pressure and heart rate improved. They may not have been able to speak and tell us that they heard us, but their bodies told us that they did. Even people who haven't had any family to sit with them have had improved vital signs when I've gone and sat and talked to them for a while. So, rest assured that Elie CAN and does hear you when you talk to him.

Elie, Dave and I are both thinking about you and sending as much positive energy as we can muster. We need you here at JU, the pinko liberals are taking over!

Hello All - not good news to report at the moment.  Elie's fever came back with a vengeance last night and peaked at 104.  White blood cell count, respiration, etc..all jumped accordingly.  Today he was back down to 100.2 - keep those prayers and kind thoughts coming his way as he is battling for his life here.

Just a couple of asides.  Elie will appreciate, when the time for him to wake up comes that 1) I have finally gotten to shave him.  2) I have finally gotten to give him a pedicure.  3) Even when he is unconscious, it takes 3 women to hold him down and 4) His ex-wife and I have now bonded and today, each of us was massaging lotion onto a foot (at the same time)

I did indeed read him every one of your beautiful messages and I am sure that he heard me and knows that you are all pulling for him.  I expect him to wake up to a collage of cards on his wall that goes all the way around his room.

Bless you all for taking the time to show both Elie and me, how much he is valued in this life by others, even those that have, well......shall we say, a liberal "tilt"?

This is true. My mom was in a coma for a while and when we were with her, talking and praying and just conversing, she could hear us and it made her seem so much more at peace.

Pulling together for the ones you care about - so important. It is good you are there for each other to give one another strength and support to be there for him...bless you both.

I can't say we've ever really gotten along but I have always respected his passion. I hope he gets better soon. I'm thinking of you, you old bastard.
