LONDON - The International Tennis Federation sent condolences to the Iraqi Tennis Federation on Tuesday following the deaths of a coach and two players in Baghdad.

Gunmen shot and killed coach Hussein Ahmed Rashid and players Nasir Al-Haram and Wissam Adel Auda on Friday, reportedly because they were wearing shorts. Police believe the attack was related to a warning by Islamic extremists against such attire.

People murdered for wearing tennis shorts. We expect to reason with such monsters? These were men wearing shorts BTW, Typical attire for tennis matches.

Where is the outrage from the left? HOW COME Murtha is not on stage telling the world about this atrocity? Oh yeh now I remember it's only an atrocity when Americans do it. Where are the HEADLINES? in the New York Times? Where are all the stories about this? I am beginning to hate the MSM and the weenies leftist that slowly are rotting the soul out of our country!

I do have to add that I did read about this in the paper, Fort Worth Star-Telegram but I'm sure it was buried in the back under international news briefs. I know it didn't rate front page coverage or any op-ed pieces. So it may have been reported but definately not highlighted.

This is really horrible! Where are the condolences for these murdered people's families. Where are the outcries as you say? Fallen on deaf ears that are only primed for when America does anything they deem as wrong!

I also heard that a few of our soldiers were killed in Afghanistan today. Sad, sad.....

an american troop gets in trouble it is blasted above the line on the front page in 48 pica.. HUGE inother words, yet when the MSM cannot betray the country it gets buried way in the back in tiny print.

I don’t see how it would be possible to hold them to the same standards as us. Because of their fundamentalist beliefs they have remained an infant society and have not grown in wisdom like a free modern society like ours allows. So I accept their behavior about like how I accept bad behavior from a child.

I can’t support killing them and I can’t ignore them. So I bring as much patients to bear as I can and support efforts to help them grow the hell up.

Mod >> I heard this very story nearly 3 weeks ago on CNN...not taking anything away from the horrid nature of the story, it sort of puts the lie to your "nothing from the MSM" motif, eh? I mean, you bitch about the MSM and then post an MSNBC link...ehhhhh, what's that, dude? According to the MSM that I pay attention to -- CNN, etc. -- the story is "old news."

But no bother. We've got Iraqis killing other Iraqis for wearing tennis shorts and we've got US Marines killing Iraqis simply for being Iraqi. Instead of warping all this into a story about how they are animals and we are civilized, why not see the reality that is this: war makes humans worse than animals, worse than scum, and there is no right side in such a conflict as this.

If it takes this liberal wiping asses to counteract the current US trend of isolationism and imperialism, then present your asses, friends.

Well, don't forget, these are the same types of people who:

Were angry at their daughter's death because she went and blew herself up as a martyr. They weren't angry that she killed herself and other innocent people, no; they were pissed because she brought shame and dishonor on the whole family because she impudently left the house without her father's permission.

These are the same types of people as:

The mother who's raised her three sons to be suicidal terrorists because she "wants to be the mother of a martyr".

These are the same types of people who:

Stoned a woman to death because, one, she dared to show her bare hands out from under her burkha, and two, and most egregiously, was wearing nail polish!

This happened on an average city street, which led me to wonder how many actual "fundamentalists" or "extremists" were in the crowd that killed her. This, in turn, led me to wonder if it's not true, then, that ALL Muslims are, in fact, fundamentalists and extremists.

The only way we can reason with people like this is to send them up in a radioactive mushroom cloud before they can do it to us. Plain and simple.
