We the people that are citizens of the United States have declared that we have the following rights.

1. The right to not spend our tax dollars supporting people that have broken the law to come to America ILLEGALLY.

2. The right to have English as our national language.

3. The right to Protect ourselves from criminals with no legal reprisal.

4.The right to vote in new amendments without some liberal judge over turning the will of the people.

5. The right to defend out borders without a foreign power interfering.

6. The right to VOTE on if we send our tax dollars overseas to help countries that never appreciate it.

7. The right to recall any politician from any state that fails in his duty: example Drunken Ted Kennedy.

8. The right to worship or not worship God in public if we so choose.

9.The right to freedom from government interference in our private lives.

10.The right to not to have to support lazy bums that refuse to work for a living.

refuse to carry "papers", MM. Your proposal of forced identification searches would make me and others criminals, with few tangible benefits to the country. And IF the Supreme Court didn't declare such searches illegal, we might as well prepare to surrender the rest of the Constitution

All they need to do is tighten the restrictions on state issued DL's. Sorry Gid but you already carry papers. They're called a "drivers licence".

Try and NOT SHOW I.D. when a law enforcement officer demand to see something. Social security card, draft card, credit cards,.

Why am I the lone voice in the wind saying just because you cant catch every murderer, we must legalize it? We may not be able to get 12 million, but we can make a damn dent.

add my voice to yours doc, andddddddddddd I kinda liked my bullet into the skull solution.

I disagree partially...it is not just the bureaucrats, it is also those who illegally enter...

No, the blame lies squarely on the shoulder of the bureucrats who refused to enforce the border. The fact that they LET the illegals enter in the first place makes THEM responsible, nobody else.

I carry papers to DRIVE, Dr. I do not carry that ID when I am walking down the street, sorry

Dr. Guy,

You try to paint yourself as the sole standardbearer for the American Way, but sorry, I'm just not having it. If we began serious searches for the illegals in this country, their legal friends and relatives would close ranks so tight we'd never be able to find them. Remember, these people have the ear of all the major media outlets in the country, and every attempt to deport them is going to meet with an ACLU lawyer.

I hate it as much as you do, Dr., and if you look closely, I have stated that I don't find the McCain solution to be a perfect one, but it at least addresses the problem, and I find it appalling that you consider illegal immigration to be the moral equivalent of murder. With the McCain solution, illegals are NOT getting a "free pass" to citizenship. Our justice system has ALWAYS worked on the principle that criminals who turn themselves in and throw themselves on the mercy of the court usually receive a lighter sentence; why should that change for illegal aliens? Under the McCain proposal, fines have to be paid, back taxes have to be paid, and they need to learn English to even become eligible for citizenship. AFTER those demands are met, they begin to fulfill the residency requirements that other would be citizens need to fulfill.

You are the descendant of immigrants, Dr. Guy. Mod is the descendant of immigrants. I am the descendant of immigrants. While our ancestors may have immigrated legally, mine actually came at a time when there WERE NO standards for immigration. While some of these illegal aliens have come across for sinister purposes, and should be deported as soon as they were found, there are others who came simply because we once portrayed ourselves as the "land of opportunity" before we smugly began hanging the "no vacancy" signs. They want something better for their families, and everything this country has ever stood for dictates that we should help them within reasonable means to achieve it.

There IS a way to deport 12 million illegals, Dr. But it would be dependent on our revisiting the mistakes of Nazi Germany. And we do not, as a nation, want to have that sin hung upon us.

although that was not my remark, I insist that the people crossing ILLEGALLY have some responsibility too.

No Gideon you dont get it. And your comparison of us to the illegals mean you have swallowed the media line hook, line and sinker.

We can identify a lot of illegals. We cannot identify all of them. SOme murderers are sheltered by their families as well. But we CAN identify many of them. And they should be shipped back.

As far as the lone voice, it seems I am the only one calling for the 2 prong initial solution. Seal the borders. And send back the ones we can identitify. Then pass legislation. Instead I get some who say deport them all (unfeasible), grant amnesty to them all (idiocy) and very few who say Seal the borders.

No, I am not a lone standard bearer of the American Way. I am a lone standard bearer of common sense. Nothing more, nothing less.

The McCain solution is NOT amnesty. It's not perfect, but it carries a pretty hefty fine, plus the payment of back taxes. And illegals must have been here at least two years to qualify.

"Seal the Borders" SHOULD be obvious to ANYONE addressing this situation, Dr. That you don't take it as a given in mine, mod's or baker's discussions shows you haven't read much of what we have written on the situation. Just as deporting criminals (INCLUDING those who have committed ID theft; that IS A felony, remember?), most of us are with you up to that point. But remember, when we talk about illegals, we're not talking entirely about Hispanics, though they do make up the majority of illegals in this country. So to identify the illegals, we would literally need to demand ID of every man, woman, and child in this country and set up camps to prepare for deportation. Yes, we should deport them when they find them (and, if the McCain bill passes, once a window has passed if they haven't registered). But we need a way for some of these illegals to self identify so that we can more readily concentrate our efforts on those who would do us harm. After all, you and I can agree, I am sure, that deporting THOSE elements is priority ONE.
