America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
I have no Illusions or delusions, your choice.

I have seen several articles and replies about what a person would or would not do in order to 'SURVIVE" I see many wonderful replies about how you are above all that {you is the generic you}.

Let me be perfectly clear about this, if it came to My and colleens survival, I would "dust" anyone!, Steal food? yep, steal medications? yep. Set booby traps to kill your tresspasing ass? you betcha! When it comes to sheer survival I have no illusions about how low I would stoop in order to continue life and protect colleens life too. Many folks here do not believe in GOD. but believe in Darwin, well part of Darwin is "survival of the fittest" get it right!

So in closing do not be so quick to proclaim to the world at large what you would or would not do to live, take your pollyanna thoughts and remember if it comes to me VRS you, I will not hesitate to dust your weak moral ass."

believe there is a difference between living and surviving.

which is why I used upper case for the word SURVIVAL.

MM, for me whether or not I'd steal or kill,  or do whatever to survive would depend on the circumstances...

IF I was in a war-torn country, with NO chance of any kind of help, like from a church, my neighbors, friends, relatives,  THEN I"d steal.  No problem.

Would I kill?  If the lives of my loved ones or mine was in immediate danger.

I stole that lighter back in 1969 and still feel bad,  as I ought to.

I believe that as long as there is some kind of help available,  whether it would mean growing my own vegetables, ect.  I'd prefer that to stealing.

I'm in complete agreement. If it came right down to it, I'd do whatever it took to make sure me and mine stayed alive.

I don't think anyone here knows this, but Dave's a real survivalist enthusiast. We've got a plan together should any major catastrophe happen, and we all know what to do and how to do it if the shit hits the fan.

People who say that they're above all that and that they wouldn't kill or steal to stay alive are full of poo, IMO.

Maybe this started with ParaTed2k's article...He wanted us to consider all of the jobs that royally suck. Be it jobs that we've done or jobs that we'd never do. Like would you collect feces from an elephant mid-air? Yuck. But if your survival depended on it? No problem. Ted didn't want us to go that route though...because when it all comes down to it, he knows that any one of us would stoop to any level for the means of bare survival.

Of course if there have been a lot of articles floating around JU on this topic...I see your reasoning to state your mind plain and straight.

Maybe a lot of spoiled brat Americans have lost touch with their survival instincts. These days when survival is pretty much a given, the learned behavior seems to be shunning the grunt work and going after the highest-paying jobs available.

When I read the title the first thing I thought of was a conversation between two guys on TV. One asked "If you were lost on an island with no food, would you eat your own foot?" The other guy asked in return "could I cook it?" The first guy said "Sure." So the second guy said "Oh yeah, I'd eat my foot."

I think it is always hard for people to say what they would or wouldn't do until they are in that situation. I watched a documentary about the kids who had survived the terrorist takeover of their school in Russia. I hadn't realized at the time what those poor people had been put through. They were reduced to fighting over urine to drink to survive.

I can't say what I would do to keep myself alive but I would do pretty much anything in my power to keep my loved ones alive.

I am sorry, but that is just too funny.

Ok, back to the serious side of MM's article.

One hour BEFORE the terrorist attacked school I bet you if you asked one of the urine drinkers if they would EVER do it, they would have replied, ewwww no way!

Some of you have said it, it's the most basic instinct we humans have, just like a lion protecting his pride or a bear her cub. It's survival of the fittest and those adrenalin rolls into play when we are faced with situations we cannot control.

I've always said it and I'll keep saying it, if I had to do it, I would. I'm not afraid to stand up and defend my family or myself for that matter.

My parents did it for us and the same way I would do it for my own, even my friends.

My dad did it, stood up against burglars who broke into our home while we were sleeping, ran after them in his underpants, then the neighbors came out to help him.

My mom did it, when she stood up to a guy who was bothering her 13 year old, with his friends, the goons they were.

My dad did it again, bitch slap some guy who dared to lift his hand to my mom.

It doesn't have to be dire consequences that would make you react, it's just knowing that your loved one is being threatened or in danger, that brings out the animal instincts.
