America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~
May sound funny but this is real

Everyone seems to be concentrating on the problems we are having in the country lately; Illegal Immigration, Hurricane recovery in New Orleans, Alligators attacking people in Florida; Mad cow disease, our constitution, the Ten Commandments, the passing of Proposition Eight in California; etc.

My Oldest sent me an e-mail and seems to have solutions to these problems, maybe Bobbi {my oldest} should run for president! She has a lot of common sense! I wonder how she would solve our economic problems?

She sent me this email because she thought I might like some tongue in cheek solutions, we must not lose our sense of humor in tough times! I will get serious later in the article.

First Bobbi says we should dig a moat the length of the Mexican border, send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies and put all the Florida alligators in the moat, this solves two problems right away, brings New Orleans above sea level and stops illegals from coming across the border.

Second, Bobbi says during the mad cow epidemic our government could trace a single cow, born in Canada, almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington and track her calves to their stalls. But the government is unable to track 12 million illegal aliens wandering around the country, something seems amiss here don't you think?

Then we keep talking about drafting a constitution for Iraq! Why can't they just use ours? it was written by some really smart guys and it has worked for over 2 hundred years and we seem to not be using it anymore.

Lastly the real reason we cannot have the Ten commandments in courthouses is because you can't Post "thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not lie, Thou shalt not commit Adultery in a building full of lawyers and judges and politicians; because it creates a hostile work environment!

Now here is where I get serious. Soon after the November Election when Prop. Eight passed in California Defining Marriage as between one man to one woman, a Rabbi Shifen wrote, we are living in an era of insanity! Witness the latest attempt to remake the nature of our country, founded and established on certain principals that have been the envy of the entire world. The latest assualt on our country and its values comes in the form of vicious and criminal violence against the Mormon church in Westwood, California. Interesting how the selective, self-righteous indignation on the part of the radical Gay-activists is played out here: they bewail the blow to freedom and justice! But I thought we just had free and open elections, where the majority of Californians expressed their views in a free and open manner. Are we not a nation of laws? If the Gay Radicals would have their way, an untold number of Americans would live under the threat of gay-lesbian "thought police" Where people that reject the gay life-style would be sought out and have sanctions brought against them. It's bad enough for those working in Hollywood where the fog of Political Correctness and a bending over backwards to accommodate, even promote the gay life-style is in full gear.

Let me state that the attack against the Mormon church is a shot over the bow of America itself, there was a time when what you did in your bedroom was between you and your partner and G-D if you are a believer. Now we are being served a in your face smorgasbord of smut and licentiousness as being between people who only want their civil rights!

Bullshit! we are dealing with the equivalent of a MORAL TAKEOVER of the country. they don't want civil rights what they desire is a quasi Gay-Lesbian hegemony, where huge book burning reminiscent of  1984 and fahrenheit 451 is probable.

The Gay and Lesbian forces do not want civil rights, they want to force America to take thousands of years of tradition and flush it down the toilet so a small percentage of people can force their ideals and practices on the rest of America.

What used to be "tolerance" is now - you have to agree that those alternative lifestyles are perfectly normal and should be accepted as no different than traditional families.

Good idea!

Astute observations. Good to see some young people thinking for themselves and not following the lemmings.

I read about the moat and New Orleans before, never heard the other ones til now. Nice to see some people can still find humor in such hard times.

Great article.

should be accepted as no different than traditional families.

Should they not be?

The 'traditional family' is by and large a myth.  If by traditional you mean the stereotypical 1950s nuclear family.  We have single parent homes, adoptions, divorced and remarried people, and even some gay couples raising kids(Oh goodness!) that compose a large portion of families.  Polygamy was also a pretty traditional family structure in a lot of cultures.  If two gay people want to get married...I say let'em.  If they want to adopt some kids, well then have at it.  I honestly can't see the problem with any of that.

As for the more aggressive actions being taken, I don't agree with that.  I can understand the outrage, but there's no excuse for acting like that.

But the people of California say NO to gay marriage and that's what the gay and lesbian alliance is causing all the fuss about

The gay and lesbian alliance in Hollywood is going after actors that voted yes on prop eight or are just conservative in their views, it is costing the conservatives jobs due to the amount of power gays have in Hollywood, why are they acting like this? because they do not care about fair votes they will continue to push their agenda till they get what they want. and they will through the LIBERAL courts.

I know...and I can understand the fuss.  I wouldn't go to quite the assholish measures that they have in some instances...but I 'get' it.  Empathy's a bitch, I guess.

This is the second vote in California to define marriage as one man to one woman, the gay and lesbian alliance spent untold millions to get the vote to swing their way and it still failed, the first vote they talked 4 activist judges to overturn the will of the people, and to them that was "fair" I wonder if they had won the vote and 4 conservate judges overturned the vote if they stilkl would have said ok that's fair. They are still trying to fight this one in court BTW>
