America has problems, but America is NOT THE PROBLEM!~

A few short weeks ago America celebrated the 231st Birthday of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. However in a letter to James Warren, John Adams wrote " This republican form of government is a production of everything that is great and excellent among Men. But its principals are as easily destroyed, as human nature is corrupt.... Private and public VIRTUE is the ONLY foundation if this republic."

In 1994 a book was written by Rudolph J. Rummel who is a Political Science Professor at the University of Hawaii, the book was called "Death By Government" it quotes statistics about unarmed civilians murdered in cold blood either by execution or other means, such as deliberately imposed mass starvation, found that in the 20th century over four times as many people were killed by governments that in all the Combats of the 20th century. In total almost 170 million men, women, and children have been shot, beaten, tortured, knifed, burned, starved, frozen, crushed or worked to death or buried alive, drowned, hanged bombed or killed in many of the myriad ways governments have inflicted death on helpless citizens or foreigners. The death figure COULD be as high as 360 million!

Many countries criticize America as the "worlds most violent nation". However the United States does not even come close to qualifying for Professors Rummels top 17 countries that have killed their own people. Even with the stats of the Ku Klux Klan and all of crime thrown in the American death toll pales before the 61 Million people murdered by the Soviet Union or the 35 million killed by the RED Chinese or the six million Jews killed by the Nazis or the million plus done in by the TITO regime in Yugoslavia, or the untold numbers eliminated by the countries of the Middle East.

Adolph Hitler made this comment after conquering most of Europe "The most foolish mistake we could make would be to let the conquered nations of Europe to have ARMS." History has taught us that conquerors that have allowed the subject races have prepared their own downfall by doing so.

A good example of this would be the Warsaw Ghetto in world war two where a few dozen armed Jews managed to keep 2,000 German Army soldiers and police armed with tanks and artillery busy for three days, when the fighting escalated around 1,500 Jewish resistance fighters, facing some 1200 thousand Germans succeeded in making the Warsaw Ghetto a battle that cost the Germans not only time, but pride and threw their schedule off by weeks, after they were subdued Joseph Goebbels wrote " It shows you what is to be expected of the JEWS when they are in possession of arms"

Some Americans keep crying over the 3600 deaths in this war against terror, well I cry too, just not for the same reason.

Yet people want to disarm Americans, leave us at the mercy of our government. I say NO THANK YOU!

History is not a torture imposed on students to the sadistic pleasure of their teachers.  It is an easy lesson to learn - since someone else has already made the mistakes, and we do not have to.

Sadly, most people still think of it as the former, and thus are condemned to relive the mistakes of our ancestors.  And that is the sad and scary part.

"enlightened" people don't really believe that history repeats. you know as well asi i do, that all we have to do these days is nice an enemy to death, then everyone wins. (if you still beleive in such things as winning and losing)

For anyone to think that America is above history and will succeed where other great nations failed is nutz! koo koo!

Let someone else 'make nice' to the enemy of our nation I believe like Teddy Roosevelt believed Talk softly and carry a big {nuclear} stick.

Moderateman,
Good morning,

Talking softly and carrying the big stick has not, obviously, led us to peace. It does not prevent an enemy from attacking us, and their choice of weapons were not handguns, but airplanes and homemade bombs. Each and every time an American has stood up to the Federal government with a weapon, their weapon was confiscated and if they weren't killed they were arrested. My sense is the quotes you use more apply to standing armies, militia, and the like than to individual citizens. Ordinary citizens use handguns to intimidate, rob, kill, and otherwise do bad things If I am so afraid to go out at night for fear of an armed person, how am I free? If I possess a weapon to protect myself, I believe I am adding to the problem, to wit, that conflict-resolution and protection can be accomplished through violence or the threat of violence. I do not believe this is so.

Be well.
